Each new season brings about some surprises, with players being trialled in new roles.
Last season was an unqualified success with Yarran going back, Walker forward and Henderson assuming the CHB post, albeit through necessity rather than planning.

There are still some positions on the ground that are there for the taking.
Who will be the players that will be tried in a new position next year and what role do you think they'll assume?

Yarran to a wing.

I see Yarran being used further up the ground, but still capable of falling back when needed.
Opposition coaches have already planned to negate Yarran by dragging him back to our last line of defense, so that will need to be countered.

Yarran is an offensive weapon who works better in space and will be we'll be well served with him spotting up our forwards.

Lucas playing off the flanks.

I envisage the club trying to give him a fairly broad range of roles next year, allowing him to work on his defensive game along with his ability to impact the scoreboard. It will be a pretty big development year for him and such diverse roles would really benefit him.

I'd like to see Jordy and Eddie contribute to the midfield rotations this year.

That's another one I would have thought may be sampled.
Jordan goes Mid. We didn't recruit anyone how could walk into that role and McLean has not worked out.

May not see much action in the seniors next year, but I see R.O.K. used as a forward flanker.
It would be great to see his kicks sailing through the goals from 60 metres out.

Maybe and probably. :)

The last half of the season showed us just how good Gibbs is around the goals.
Not as much as a goal-kicker but a playmaker.

Gibbs goes HFF.
Completely agree. He's a huge weapon when rotated through mid and half-forward. I don't think Betts has the tank to play much midfield, but i really like the idea of walker and garlett pushing further up the ground. (Garlett's skill level is quite good, and I think he could add something to our midfield rotations.)

With our KPD and 3rd tall/medium defenders looking pretty well set and I'm wondering where they see Pat McCarthy - who has all the tools to play just about any position on the ground - fitting in. Wonder if they'll look at him as a forward or even a Matthew Richardson style wing.

Can't see him getting a game...

Mitchell will be the only youngster to get a look in with a fairly fit list...

The only changes that will probably happen are the ones to fill the 'holes' we currently have in the team, e.g. Full forward, hard inside mid, etc.

Hampson to FF
McLean to play more senior games as inside mid

Would like to see a greater rotation between Eddie/Jeffrey and Yaz.

None of them have the endurance to play a full game in the middle yet, but it would be fantastic to see constant rotations through HBF,FP and Midfield. In short bursts (and with a distant memory), Eddie Betts is a fantastic clearance midfielder, would love to see more time spent in there when in a bad patch of form (which happens from time to time).

Also, Bower will never be a true center half back, but i would love to see Henderson become the CHF we need. He has so much potential in both positions!

Tuohy up the ground IMO.
With JR back in the side, we could use Tuohy up the ground to utilise his run and carry.

Can't wait to see what the club do with Henderson. Would really like to see him make CHB his own, and form a really good relationship with Jamo & co.

Somehow leaving him a rookie does not seem right

I agree with the thought of playing Tuohy up the field but I think he and Lucas could make a great long term wing duo.
Of coarse people will say we have Scotland and Simpson but it may be time to try Tuohy & Lucas there.
I think Bower could make a good tall back Pocket to look after some of the resting rucks.
Roberton will play in the centre and judd will spend more time in the half forward area (HFF)
Waite to play more HFF which would worry the heck out of the opposition having Judd or Gartlett on one flank and Waite the other with both supported by Eddie and Simpson at ground level.
The other change of player/position will be that of Joseph. I think he will have a blinder of a season and will play more through the midfield.
In general I think we could have one of the most versatile teams in the league.
Thy can nearly all play at the opposite end of the ground and our flakers can all play through the middle and on the ball. Jamison, Henderson, Yarran &
Laidler can all play forward.
Walker, Waite, Scotland, Kruezer & Gibbs can play back.
We are almost at the stage that when there is a change of a quarter our players just stay where they are on the ground. They do not swap ends.
Now wouldn't that have the opposition magnet board in a panic as the next quarter began:confused::confused::confused::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::p
