On the Couch was discussing teams who have rebuilt and put up stats for the number of new players 2005 - 2008

28 Brisbane Lions
24 Collingwood
23 Essendon
23 Carlton
22 North Melbourne
21 Hawthorn
-------------
-------------
9 St Kilda

Sure we haven't been rebuilding - but we're last on this table

Food for thought ???

It's a good point, look at our drafting of new players from 04-07:
04 - 17. McQualter, 33. Ackland, 49. Mark McGough (both recycled, now gone), 63. Gwilt,
05 - 33. Sam Gilbert, 49. Rix, 63. Phil Raymond, 71. Justin Sweeney (both delisted)
06 - 9. David Armitage, 27. Brad Howard, 59. Jarryd Allen, 74. Ferguson
07 - 9. Ben McEvoy, 42. Jack Steven, 70. Eljay Connors

A couple of beauties in there in Armitage, Gilbert and by the looks of it McEvoy, but if we have to include in our side too many of the rest of those blokes when Harves, Max etc. retire we are stuffed. We're going to have to hope our 99-02 drafted players stick around long enough for us to get some good youngsters in. IMO if we miss the 8 this season, the time for trading picks for players is definitely over, and the reverse might have to be looked at (as much as I hate seeing Saints leave (apart from Spider))

I noticed that the panel on Footy Classified claimed that we have no players under the age of 22 coming through which I hope is something that the likes of Gilbert, Gwilt, Armitage, McEvoy, Geary, Allen, Steven, Howard, Eddy, McQualter, Connors, Attard, Haretuku, Chivers, Miles and Van Rheenen are made aware of.

We have players coming through but like Brisbane pre their threepeat, we have concentrated on playing the same playing group together.

I has not been a spectacular success yet.

That's a disappointing list, with 2004 being a write-off.
