Anyone got any thoughts on which newbies to pick up?

Bit more difficult this year with so many midfielders going in the top 20, with several being bottom aged.

Certainly Masten, Palmer & Cotchin would be good chances to get games and then get points. Not so sure about Morton, Myers and Ebert. No idea on Dangerfield. Rioli is a good chance to get games in my book, but I'm not sure how many points he'll get - small forwards often aren't the greatest point collectors. Same arguments apply to Maric.

Other possibilities are Grimes, Selwood, and Rance is intriguing given Richmond's issues down back.

And I know he's not technically 'new', but it will be interesting to see how Dew is priced.

Callan Ward and then even some 2nd year players on the dogs list Harbrow and Lynch should get some games and be cheap

Obviously who does well in the NAB cup is a pretty good indicator!

But I'm in a comp where the draft starts in a few weeks, so oppinions will be appreciated. ;)

And if anyone from my comp is reading this, piss off and start your own thread! :D

Might be a bit tricky picking your team next year. The season starts with 2 games on a Thursday night. Think that means you won't have all the team lists before you have to name your side.

In all the interviews with the Carlton recruiting staff since the draft, they have all mentioned that Denis Armfield could play an immeadiate role, playing on the oppositions small forwards. He may be one to look out for as a cash cow.

But will he play a shut-down role or as a rebounder?

Whenever McVeigh plays as a shut-down defender you can piss his and his opponents points away.

Did they also say he was training the house down, and his skinfolds were unreal? Relax, they say that about every draftee.

Most clubs try to pump there new players up, sometimes to give them motivation or to boost there convidence or even just make the fans feel the club is doing a good job.

Greenwood is one im looking at closely. Seems as though he could be a walk-up starter for the Roos with his size. Also Palmer from Freo, their midfield is ordinary so he should be alot of games.

I reckon that masten will play the most outta these guys purely because there is a bit of an opening in the WC midfield. However kruezer and cotchin will be up there. No idea tho bout least maybe henderson but seriously no idea lol.;)

agreed. I only pick first year rookies that will play alot.. e.g cotchin. And masten has a BAD OP problem, so wouldn't be surprised if his debut is delayed,

So far my midfield rookies are cotchin/palmer connors obrian. 1 of them on the field.

BUTT i am sturggling to find foward ROOKIES>>>> ANY SUGGESTIONS????

I think Rhys Palmer stands out as one to grab. He has played a season of senior footy already and will have some big bodies around to protect him.

There's a hole bunch of tall forwards who got limited game time from the 2006 draft. Gumbleton, Thorp, Hansen, both Browns, Reid, etc.
