Full damage, rollovers etc for all 400+ cars, trucks and SUVs compared to 170 cars getting scratched paint, improved AI affected by pressure compared to GTs robot drivers, 100 tracks including Le Mans circuit compared to 20 tracks.

10 times the polygons and 4x texture res of Forza 2, bump mapping etc at 60 fps

They must be hoping that it will drive software sales up.

Blu-ray drives are constantly decreasing in price as well, so I don't think it will be long until the console itself starts making a profit.

yeh i remember when i bought my second ps3 from jb i asked how much an extended warranty was and when they said something like 100 bucks i was like....ahhhhhh yeh nah that's it thanks

way overboard for something that doesn't even guarantee you a brand new console which is the only way i'd pay that much for it

First off GT5 will have DOUBLE and then some the amount of cars Forza 3 has.

"Scratched paint?" You obviously haven't seen the video's and I HIGHLY doubt it will be just 170 cars that have damage. 170 hasn't been confirmed and it will likely be the wrong number. Most likely to be well over 400+ too.

AI has already been stated as being a major improvement in GT5.

Also while we're talking features, what about the extra 8 players GT5 can have online.

How about dynamic weather and night racing as well.

Also the WRC and NASCAR licenses which instantly adds so much more variety to the game, as well as extra cars, tracks, driving styles.

Wipeout HD is worth buying a ps3 for imo. It's almost perfect

Should of just done that. Will try it next time i go to harvey norman. Either that or go to Dick Smiths where the website says it's $99 for 4 years. But not sure of the package they are offering on the ps3 if any

My PS3 is now proudly sitting at home next to the TV and 360 (apparently they CAN live in harmony!)

Bought LBP and Uncharted, with a couple of Blu-Rays, one of them being "Planet Earth"

Don't know much with second hand PS3s, or the 40gig versions, but if it helps at all, I have a 60gig PS3 (launch model, prior to the 40gig versions) and haven't had any problems at all with that. I use it pretty frequently too - probably have it on at least every 2-3 days or so - every day when I get a new game. Not sure with the energy usage sorry.

It does make me question a bit, why he has upgraded it, if he's hardly used it though. Mine is 60gig, and I have about 20 PSN games, plus about 100 rock band songs downloaded to the hard drive, and most of my game addons & updates for the disc games (about 25-30 games). Although I can't fit much more on there (no demos, movies etc), and two disc games which required large installs (5gig+) and I don't play much anyone, I've removed the install to make some room. I'm also wanting to upgrade mine at the moment. Anyway, it just makes me wonder if he has used it a bit before.

Personally for $350, I'd probably just pay extra and get a new one for $400, just for piece of mind. If it were $250 or something, I'd probably buy it. But maybe that's just me. For an extra $50 though, at least if you have any problems with a new one, it should be covered by the warranty for a little while, plus with the newer PS3s hard drive (old model 80gig or slim 120gig), it should be big enough to last for a little while.
