^ High Tea?? ;) . They could always just do it at the end meetings organised to discuss other topics of mutual benefit eg the WAFL restructure model/progress and the upcoming AFL taxation system (and ensuring that travel doesn't count in spending figures) ;)

It's happened. You all thought I was mad, many of you requested to be moved to another peanut factory. But now we *gets crushed by an elephant*

Ahem, now we can all recognise that I was right when I said at the start of the year that Bennell would be fantastic for us and that certain posters, who shall remain nameless because I can't remember their names, were wrong. I am so great, I am so great, everybody loves me, I am so great.

I was also a big fan of one S Cummings and that insurance ad that had him kicking a football out of Subiaco and into someone's house.

Shepherd feels like a new recruit, so him.

Then of course Bennell for this year, X as well and Yeo. Best trading the Eagles have done in years.

Just on this topic- Did Ken Judge ever recruit anybody(out of the plethora of players he traded in) that became a half decent player for us? I can only remember Michael Collica having a few solid years in the backline.
Yeah Collica was probably the best. Richard Taylor had a reasonable 2001. Harding, Prior, Merenda were all shot, Siera was bloody unlucky as he did his knee in his first quarter for us, Trent Carroll was Trent Carroll.

What did we trade for Bennell? He could be the best bargin WC have ever scored
Got him in the fourth round of the rookie draft - hard to pay any less than that!

Yeah that'll work. The recruiters from both clubs could discuss it over tea and scones

If a player nominates wc - freo dont bid and vice versa

Right now freo are looking for a kpp to replace pav - we are looking for a big bodied mid

These things get done all the time in business

Loving how many of our new recruits and draftees drove the team on, especially given so many senior players were missing.

On another related note - since Butler was the sub, Glass called it a day and Cox was omitted, is it the first time ever that our 21 playing in the first half did not feature a single 2006 premiership player?

Given that Cox has played 104 consecutive games and the last time he missed a game, we had more premiership players still on our list eg Kerr, Embley, A.Selwood , probably!

Well spotted ...... I had missed that fact.

These are the best three for me.
Yeo might in time rank the best of them all.
Has class, poise and toughness ,all the attributes of a good leader.
The bonus is that we got Yeo just after he turned 20 so we will most probably get 10 years service out of him.
I suspect he will be a 200 + game player for us.

We traded a first rounder for Wellingham
We trade a first rounder for Chick.
We traded a first and second rounder for Steinglein.
And we traded a second rounder for Yeo and that trade in comparison is looking like a pretty good trade at the minute.

Yes , Yeo is the only highly rated incoming player we've haven't overpaid for. I wouldn't say we paid unders in the same way that say, Port , paid unders for Polec. We could have gotten Yeo for even cheaper given the circumstances ie *Go home five* but we were too soft/nice. Given our other trades though, not complaining! :)

Andrew Donnelly was pretty good.

Andy Lovell looked like a good pick up then sort of faded away.

Chad Rintoul had 2 reasonable years at West Coast sandwiched between 2 years at Adelaide and 2 at Collingwood.

Winner has to be Greg Harding, though. After 5 mediocre years with Freo we decided he was better than Metro (he wasn't) and traded for him. Played 9 mediocre games for us and was never seen again. Metro became a very highly played Subiaco regular.

Seems utterly unbelievable now doesn't it?

Draft picks seem to be rated higher than players these days, it's been a weird shift. There's no way Stenglein would command the same price today.

Chad Rintoul had 2 reasonable years at West Coast sandwiched between 2 years at Adelaide and 2 at Collingwood.
I thought Rintoul started with us???

EDIT = nope - my crappy memory

6 mediocre games more than Metro played for Freo though.

The ultimate lose-lose trade.

Paul Harding.

Premiership ruckman.
Harding addressed a need to fill a weakness we had. He wasn't a star and pretty undersized but he was a competitor and experienced head we needed to compliment our midfield of the time.

Does Phil Matera count? :p Technically traded from Fremantle.

Stenglein and Chick. I still remember reading that we got Chick one morning, turning to my missus and saying 'Holy Crap! We're gonna win a premiership the next few years!'. I may of been too young to appreciate our WA AFL team in the 90's but I'm glad I was around for those glorious short years
