Now I have to be careful what I say here or I'm sure this will be culled, but I'd like everyone to know a rule I wasn't aware of.

I have been banned from the WCE board because I sent a PM to a moderator criticising him.

I appealed to AA because i believe PM's are private

I was told that I had not shown respect for the moderator in my PM

So there you have it, moderators have to be respected, not only in posts but in emails, PM's, chatrooms or down the local pub, or expect a banning.

Sorry Frodo, but you are banned for a week which is my decision. There is a difference between criticism and uncouth name calling. Also, what I find amusing is that you are happy to go to EFH and show the PMs you and I exchanged, but I kept what you PMed private, and yet you come here sprouting that PM's are private. Well, you should not have showed them over at EFH. You broke the privacy agreement, not I.

It's just a week Frodo and then you will be back onto the WC board if you wish to do so. If you choose not to, then that's your choice, no skin of my nose or anyone elses.

I ask that you abide by the rules on the WC board, for those who do not get a weeks holiday and those who do not like it, then so be it. I have rules and everyone is to abide by them, that's just the way it is.

You can complain or try and get as much support as you can, but it will fall on deaf ears. I will not be removed as a mod for my actions, and though you and maybe a couple of others do not agree with my style of modding, I am happy to say that I have the support of 98% of WC posters on the WC board and the support of the team here at BF.

You may wish to keep placing complaints, but they will only fall on deaf ears. My advice to you is to let the week go by and start afresh. You may wish to have a battle over this, but I choose not to as I have a lot more other things to worry about and to be blunt, you are fighting a losing battle.

All I ask is that you understand that opposition supporters are entitled to be on our boards, and though you may disagree with that, I'm sorry, but while I am a mod on that board, it's what I prefer. I want our board to make people feel welcomed and at home there regardless of what team they follow. You may not agree with what they have to say, but they are entitled to express their views.

Besides, I am not the first mod you had a run in with, nor will I be the last. Try being a little more proactive, rather than being bitter with people who support other sides apart from the Eagles. Respect works both ways.

i will correct you on one point. I did not show the PM's to anyone. That is a barefaced lie.

If you wish can cut and post the PM's and what I posted on Eaglesfyinghigh.com because it was a sort precis of what had happened and not showing the PM's.

I would not show anyone private mail under normal cisrcumstances.

What you call uncouth namecalling is in fact very timid compared with much of what is said every day on bigfooty boards. There was no swearing . As you have made an unfair accusation I must honestly respond with the 'uncouth' comments you found so offensive. These are a number of PM's that occurred after a thread was closed after a lot of Freo Dockertrolling and insulting and my calling for better moderation.

You responded with some unkind words too including an age related one which is discriminatory and illegal. So it's not one sided.

I stand by those comments. I believe that Club boards are for supporters of that club and insulting posts from other club supporters have no place there.

Now, the reason for this thread is not to justify my position but to let others know that they may be banned for what they say to people in private, be it email, PM, chatroom or whatever. I just want them to know and therefore be careful in the future.

I hope you can see the big 'hole' that this decision opens up. Consider the S, R and P forum where strong opposing views are held. A moderator can now ban anyone with a differing opinion and claim that it is due to a private chat or email or in a chatroom. That seems very unfair to me. I believe that what goes on between two people and is not a post on Bigfooty should be a perrsonal issue and not a Bigfooty one.

But it's AA's site.

ps This is really about politics. It is well documented how left wing GB is and our views clash on the SR&P board

We have rules here and we abide by them.

All I wish to say is, let it go and see you back on the WC boards in less than a week. You are welcomed there, you do some very good posts and are a worthwhile contributor to the site.

The point is, ODN, the banning was for the PM. In your scenario I'd guess that the banning was for someting posted in the forum you moderate.

That is the point of this thread. I think people believe they will only be banned if they post something breaking the rules, not if they have a private conversation with a moderator.
 
I've booted people in the past over a PM's content. Mind you, the content was way over the top in subject and language and the posters were mostly troublesome newbies.
Allowances are made for GOM.:D

To help you out, since start 2005 - I have posted in a sum total of ... wait for it ... 8 threads - yes constant trolling with impunity.

Your concern for our welfare is touching Kuepp. I'm fighting back the tears and I think it's interfering with my thought processes. The only descriptors I think of wouldnt make it past the swear filter.
