I can't believe there was any ever doubts about Cowan getting picked up.... One of the leading run scorers in shield last season and I think he is the leading run scorer over the last 3 seasons (or close to it)... At 32yo would be outrageous for any state to turn him down.

Equal most Sheffield Shield wins and the fewest losses by 2, but could still miss the final.

Great system.
Technically one of those Draw's is counted as a loss due to insufficient preparation of the ground by SCG staff.

Great system.
Having less losses doesn't count for s**t, which I agree with tbh.

Technically the top three teams where all on five wins coming into the last round.

Leading wickettakers (min 3 games)
  1. Doug BOLLINGER 27 @ 23.48
  2. Trent COPELAND 26 @ 21.15 with 2 5-for's and 1 10-for
  3. Sean ABBOTT 21 @ 38.28
  4. Stephen O'KEEFE 17 @ 24.64
  5. Nathan LYON 12 @ 37.58
  6. Gurinder SANDHU 8 @ 59.50
  7. Moises HENRIQUES 2 @ 57.00
The positives were Patterson stepping up following a couple of lean seasons after his stunning debut, Copeland's superb return to Shield cricket, almost topping our wicket taking list despite only playing 5 games and Hughes taking his chance at the top of the order.

The negatives were losing Henriques and SOK, moving Carters down the order from his successul opening slot after discarding Lenton as the keeper after 3 poor batting games and Sandhu losing all sorts of form in both Shield and Big Bash levels.

Henriques and SOK should return next year and I wonder if Rohrer who will be 35 next year will be one to make way.

It's amazing how little Maddinson's results have improved despite a sustained run at shield level

Is a serious under performer

As dumb as anything as a batsman. Have never seen a batsman have so many ridiculous dismissals in one season. his best is scary good, but jeez. He frustrates the living daylights out of me.

Talk that Clarke might play Matador's

Surely a big upgrade on Mad Dog Captaining
Mad Dog wouldn't have been captaining if Henriques was playing tbf

So a very disappointing end to a promising season. Batting wise we were strong with Cowan, Henriques and Nevill leading the way. It was our fast bowlers who let us down, failing to bowl out Tassie twice, as we couldn't find one consistent strike bowler. Copeland had his worst season statistically since he started and Bollinger looks past his best. Not sure why we carried Abbott (batting average 4.75 bowling average 95.50) into the last game when Stobo probably deserved another game after his great debut in Adelaide.

End of the day we found some promising youngsters, Daniel Hughes really found himself as a Shield Player this season.

Early form is what hurt. The Tassie loss was the one that hurt, how we managed to lose to that side is laughable. aIt unfortunately showed our season in that game, so inconsistent.
