Not a lot there that interests me. A mixed 4x400 track relay. maybe. Unfortunately having such a large difference in team members abilities (5-6 secs per lap) means it is pretty confusing race as a spectacle. The swimming 4x100 Mixed Medley I have no idea about.

There are a few of Mixed Team sports added (Judo, archery, fencing) which are basically 'Get a few people together, let them, compete individually and add up the scores'. They are not my idea of team events. Table Tennis mixed doubles IS a team event.

As for new sports - 3-on-3 Basketball?!? Well, we had Sevens Rugby, so I guess........

BMX Freestyle. There won't be any judging controversy there.

Best line from the whole paper - right at the bottom - 'The International Olympic Committee is a not-for-profit independent international organisation made up of volunteers, which is committed to building a better world through sport. ':p:p:p:p:p:p

Only problem with mixed events like the relays is the teams with stronger women are likely to be at an advantage compared to the teams with stronger men. It should still be interesting to watch anyway.

They had mixed relays in the Nitro Athletics earlier this year. Brought lots of excitement and they were then talked about as going properly international.

I am not sure where the OP got the description of team events. Certainly, fencing already has team events which are quite separate from the individual. For fencing it now means a team event for each of the 3 weapons for each men and women. Currently, only 4 of the 6 combinations is competed at each Olympics.

"[Parkour], which involves jumping, climbing and running through urban environments, is being courted by the International Gymnastics Federation (FIG), which wants to establish a new parkour-inspired discipline.

But the move has provoked a strong backlash from the parkour community."

It's not stated that this is for Tokyo, but this seemed like the best thread for the article at this point in time.

a combination of time and style points? Is that how you would measure participants?
