It was originally a Fremantle Unions jumper that South freo adopted when they took over Fremantles position.

I'd love to see the new stadium at Burswood, but I'm not holding my breath. That would just make too much sense for our pollies.

I think the key issue about any new stadium will be the politics around ownership and control. As far as I know the WAFC's prime position is still to have Subiaco redeveloped so that they still retain control over it. Any other plan, even Kitchener Park means they lose control over it.

Hard to see any other major sport wanting to use it either. Cricket are committed to the WACA. The Western Force and Perth Glory are committed to a rectangular stadium, and there is already an $80 million plan to upgrade Perth Oval.

So I can't see anyone apart from the WAFC being interested in playing there long term. It will come down to how the politics play out between what they want and what the state government wants.
