You can tell all the speculation about the drafts is behind us ,but i'd just like to know what the consensus is on the 2006 style retro jumpers.Bit of a mixture as i've been told by the nice lady at Hawks nest with brown numbers on a white background instead of black but still with the seventies style stripes down the back.Looks O.K IMO but we have worn the same design since 75' so any change is refreshing.Any thoughts?

I thought it looked exactly the same as our usual one, but with a couple of stripes and a white patch at the back. I was really disappointed to be honest. The one against Nth was a crap load better...

Its still a yellow colour, bring back the gold!

Buster, not intending to sound anal or anything, but the jumper has changed plenty of times since 1975.

1975 - 1977 Changed to golden back, pin-striping on stripes returned.

1978 - 1990 Pin-striping dropped, wider stripes.

1991 - 1997 Thinner Stripes

1998 - 2003 Gold colour changed to yellow.

2004 - 2005 Club logo added to breast.

I maybe wrong but i think those changes you mentioned apart from the logo being included occured only because they were different manufacturers of the same design and were not delibratly intended.

We have had the same manufacturer...Puma for over 30 years....

The change to Yellow from Gold was stupid....as to was the logo.
I beg to differ there Hawkk ,in the seventies and eighties before the advent of coolmax in the early nineties ,Puma had nothing to do with the jumper as i think the VFL/AFL had seprate contracts with companies such as sekem and Brandella who were into making the old woollen/acrylic guernseys of that era .Puma have always been our footwear and apparel sponser for that amount of time but due to some contractual arrangements ,the onfield uniform was always seprate until about the early to mid- nineties.

Really...that suprizes me.

So did everyone in the league have the same jumper manufacturer?

Would be interesting in this day and age regarding clash jumpers....

Bought one at the Christmas Family Day earlier this month. Am looking forward to getting a number put on it (haven't decided which number yet - will probably be between either Sammy & Hodgey), and wearing it at the start of next season.

Correct Buster, the Hawthorn Football Club had a contract with Brandella. I was involved / formed a junior footy club (8 teams) and also the administration / formation of the Hawthorn District Junior Football League in the early seventies and throughout. My club (Koonung)wore the Hawks guernsey and we were able to purchase direct from Brandella at a reduced price due to the Hawks' purchasing clout. I tripped out to the Brandella factory many-a-time to pick-up orders.
