News New Theme for BigFooty

After 4 or 5 years on the current theme, BigFooty is changing its look (slightly).

Next week we will open the new theme up for people to elect to use.

Then after a week or two of fixing niggles and getting all of our little hacks and hard-coded changes settled (like displaying your footy team and displaying a cup beside supporters of the current premiers) we will retire the old BigFooty theme and move to the new one permanently.

BigFooty's colours are being added to the theme, so we will be more red and shades of grey than the blues, greens and purples you see in the example.

Also: This will give us a nicer mobile theme!

Thank you to the guys at ThemeHouse who have been on hand to help us in whatever way they can. Buy your themes and stuff from them.

Yeah I think we need to keep the same background grey as we currently have. It's too bright otherwise.

Turned it back on and it is much better with the grey. Did notice a bug that only seems to happen on the forum categories page, https://www.bigfooty.com/forum/categories/premium-members.73/ and https://www.bigfooty.com/forum/categories/customer-service.2/ for examples where there is no scroll bar if you extend the forum side nav bar (which had all these forums open instead of collapsed like I have become used to). Basically it looks like the page ends and its set footer and doesn't take into account that the side nav bar expands so even with all headings collapsed I still can't see past the "Not Footy Related" board.

UPDATE: Have noticed that this will happen on any (or atleast most) page that ends and is shorter than the nav bar.

Not a huge issue, just thought I'd bring it up.

Another issue I found, and this will only apply to forums with a darker background, is you can't see the text of the forum name and little board catch phrase thing. If you look closely, that says Video Games

So I have been using it today since it no longer blinds you and have noticed another thing. The old theme used to have the breadcrumb trail at the bottom of the page:



The new theme does not which means to go back I need to scroll all the way back to the top. Actually, there is no nav buttons at all down the bottom now (Home(well, this is there down the very bottom)/Top). Can the breadcrumb feature in particular be re added please?

The old forum also had a handy link directly to the main board on the side nav bar which is no longer there. Possible to get that back?




Other than these small issues I am enjoying the new layout, good job.

Another one Chief. It appears the new forum software allows images in signatures.

I assume this user has an image in his signature but it isn't displayed in the old one as its a turned off feature, however in the new version I can see it. Is this intentional?

Watched forums button in the side nav bar goes to https://www.bigfooty.com/forum/watched/forums/all which does not exist. I believe it should go to https://www.bigfooty.com/forum/watched/forums (just drop the /all really).

I hadn't meant it to be, but with the sig collapse I am not averse to keeping it.
