Am looking at getting back onto a road bike and would love some suggestions. Have a budget of 1500 but am willing to go up to 2000 if the right bike is there at that price. I am 5'10 and 75 kilos.

All of my riding will be done on the road, will be looking at joining a local club in the future. Hopefully building to a point in which I can ride a bit more seriously.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I'm wondering with my GT Transeo which I talked about higher up in this page if I can put road rims tyres on it? It has 700c on it now and I'm looking at getting these (as stated on eBay):

Model: ZJS100B
U or Rim Brakes Only
Shimano 8 or 9 Speed Only
Shimano 7 or 10 speed needs a spacer
Or you have to change the hub body to fit Camapgnolo.
Fit Tyre Size: 700c x 23c to 28c

Thats OK for me, isn't it? I'd need the spacer though because I've got 3 up front and 7 at the back.

First step I would consider what you kind of materials you choose. Most hybrids will either be made of aluminum or cromoly. Aluminum may be slightly lighter but less durable, and you may use it also more off road. For your iron man I would suggest the lighter aluminum version. Also consider if you want suspension to take the edge off road vibrations.

The first two bikes any man should buy are a roadbike and a hard-tail mountain bike. If the journey is too rough for the roadbike then you take the mountain bike.

Hybrids are for girls, really.

Thanks for the advice, Solo man.

Cycling is fun and a very good exercise. Unfortunately very few people take it up in this busy life. So, why don't you start a group along with your other cycing friends? This will motivate you and make you master it fast.
