Gettleman on the way out as well?
Tbf he has drafted well and actually has some cap space to play with this year.
Who’s your preference for a new coach? Rivena?
I'd like to see the Giants hire a young college HC with an offensive background, to help take Jones' game to another level.

But given it's New York, and that market place / media, it's probably odds-on that they hire a grizzled gnarled defensive HC like Rivera, or Marv Lewis.

According to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, Pat Shurmur will finish 2019 as the Giants' coach, though his status for 2020 is "very much in doubt."
The Giants are riding a nine-game losing streak and Shurmur could be the collateral damage. He'll finish out the year in his current capacity, though Rapoport hears his prospects of returning for a third season in East Rutherford are "not looking good." Perhaps the Giants would reconsider if Shurmur leads them to a strong finish, but an overhaul seems likely with New York already assured of its third straight losing season. A combined 17-45 in stints with Cleveland, Philadelphia (interim) and New York, Shurmur will probably have to settle for a coordinating gig once the Giants inevitably dump him.

Lots of talk around of the Giants trading Evan Engram in the offseason given the emergence of Kaden Smith in the back end of the year....thoughts?

What would most Giants fans like in return? Can see there being quite a few teams interested, despite EEs injury history.

So we get the 4th pick.
should we trade up to get young or settle for Andrew Thomas?
Shumur does not have a presser scheduled for tomorrow...surely he is gone
I think we will keep gettlemen..he has done a good job with what he has had on offer. He actually has some $$ to spend this year

Gettleman is decent at drafting, not so good at signing free agents. Can think of many contract abortions he gave out while at Carolina. None more so than Matt Kalil's. Horrendous.

Try and trade back I think. Surely there’s a team that wants to take a punt on Tua.

Speaking Monday, Giants co-owner John Mara acknowledged that retained GM Dave Gettleman must increase his "batting average" going forward.
Why Mara felt the need to employ a baseball metaphor is unclear, but the message is crystal: Fewer bad moves. The G-Men have gone 9-23 under Gettleman's stewardship, though he will point to the usual quarterback alibis. Last year, he had an old one. This year, a young one. Coach Pat Shurmur was the one made to walk the plank. Gettleman has been addicted to questionable moves in free agency while refusing to maximize his draft capital, literally not even considering draft weekend trade downs. The soon-to-be 69-year-old needs a home run offseason.

NFL.com's Ian Rapoport reports the Giants have requested permission to interview Chiefs OC Eric Bieniemy for their head-coaching vacancy.
One of last year's most sought after candidates has now been linked to the Panthers and Giants. Bieniemy's interview life was made easier by the Chiefs securing a first-round bye in Week 17. With teams understandably drawn to Andy Reid's coaching tree, Bieniemy has a real shot at becoming his latest assistant to land a lead gig.

NFL Network's Mike Garafolo confirms the Giants will retain GM Dave Gettleman.
It appears Gettleman won't be following fired coach Pat Shurmur out the door in East Rutherford. The Giants have hit on a number of recent draft picks, adding Saquon Barkley, Daniel Jones and Darius Slayton to their talent pool the past two years. Of course, Gettleman has had just as many misses, whiffing on free agent bust Nate Solder while also throwing in the towel on arguably the most physically-gifted receiver in franchise history (Odell Beckham). A black-and-white thinker who has largely eschewed analytics (his obsession with "hog mollies" is unparalleled), Gettleman's expected return no doubt complicates matters in the Giants' head-coaching search. Matt Rhule, a former Giants assistant who passed on the Jets' opening when they wouldn't let him hire his own assistants last offseason, may be reluctant to jump ship with the erratic Gettleman still meddling in front office affairs.

Giants fired coach Pat Shurmur.
An accomplished coordinator, Shurmur hasn't measured up at either of his two head-coaching stops, going just 9-23 during his two-year tenure with the Browns before missing the playoffs in each of his two seasons with New York. As of yesterday, Giants ownership was still "split" on whether to bring back Shurmur for another eason, but apparently Sunday's season-ending loss to Philadelphia was enough to tip the scales. Shurmur coaxed a strong debut season out of Saquon Barkley in 2018 and admirably pulled the plug on Eli Manning in favor of rookie Daniel Jones this past season, but nine wins in two seasons won't cut it in the Big Apple. NFL Network's Ian Rapoport hears GM Dave Gettleman is safe, at least for now. The Giants' next coach will be their third in five seasons.

Analytics is the way Dave, nearly all teams use it. Dinosaur

I like the hire.
Worked with Saban and Bill.
There’s definitely a trend in the nfl now to go for young coaches

Young is fine. Would've preferred a HC coming out of the college system, although it sounds like we were keen on Rhule but not the contract that would have come with him.

It’s actually been reported that the giants were so impressed with Judge they started to negotiate the night of their interview even before Rhule got an interview

The real story is somewhere in between, the Giants wanted Rhule and Rhule wanted to coach the Giants, make no bones about it, they even asked him for the right to reply to Carolina's offer. He did so and called them asking if they could beat Teppers offer if successful with the interview , they said it was too rich for their blood and moved on quickly.

Hence the hire of Rhule before the Giants appointed Judge.
