The conceit of this league is that Australian Rules is as popular among Kiwi's as Union is in reality.

Wellington is named after the strong, freezing winds the city is famous for.

The Arrows are named after the first ship to sail into the Bay in 1841. The name is also now given to Arrow Rock in Tasman Bay, a popular landmark.

The Rams are named for the rams head featuring on the cities flag, as well as the regions sheep industry.

The Rebels are named after the Maori who fought in the areas Battle of Gate Pa. The symbols on the back are taken from the opposing armies flags, the Moari flag including a christian cross, a crescent moon and star of Bethlehem, and the British union jack, together symbolising peace after the treaty of Waitangi.

The jumpers front design is a stylized Matakana Island, the regions extinct volcano.
