New Zealand Tour of India 2021 (3 T20's and 2 Tests)

Not surprising that we have lost this T20 series, hard to back up so quickly after playing in a T20 World Cup semi final and final.

India finished up after the group stage so have had more of a break and look more motivated for this series with it being played at home.

I'm more interested in the upcoming test series, after all the T20 cricket we've seen over the last few weeks it will be good to see some test cricket.

I know this may be a weird thing to say but Ross Taylor in subcontinent conditions is a bad miss for the kiwis. This team ems to be a bit thin from 7 onwards in terms of batting.

Santner is batting too high at 7, he was hopeless last night, he struggled to get bat on ball and looked like a tailender, Southee would've been better.

Just feel personally from 7 onwards they looked a bit thin. Usually a Kyle Jamieson, the ex-Zimbabwean De Grandhomme would usually come out at that time to give them a bit oomph

Really hope we don't pick Santner. Basically 8 of the 11 pick themselves

Latham
Young
Williamson
Taylor
Nicholls
Blundell (wk)
Jamieson
Patel

Who will bat 6/7 and be the 5th bowler? Hopefully Ravindra, although Phillips or Mitchell would be fine. Please not Santner. He's not good enough to bat 7 and doesn't take wickets.

The other question is choosing 2 out of 3 bowlers from Southee, Wagner, and Somerville.

Ravindra could possibly open ahead of Will Young if not batting no 6.

Jamieson over Wagner? Feel like you want a quick that can bowl plenty of overs in India.

Jamieson really is an old fashioned looking cricketer.
First test in Kanpur in 5 years and barely anyone there. Though supposedly it's sold out

That was a bad call. Smog is a bit better now.

India haven't been getting big crowds for test cricket for awhile now. This actually sounds like a solid crowd at the start of play.

Bringing the spinners on already, like most Indian pitches they will likely be more effective than the quicks.

Jamieson is one of the best test bowlers in the world at present and he is a better batsman than Wagner so not surprising he was picked ahead of him.

All 4 of Boult, Southee, Wagner and Jamieson are all pretty even but personally I'd take Wagner
