Oh great! Now Ryder and Bracewell have bene dropped for the next game for going out on the piss while injured and getting into an arguement with some tool.

Team management, for goodness sake, get Bracewell the hell away from Ryder.

Get Ryder away from the team.
Can't build team culture when one of the members is an alcoholic. Hes had numerous warnings , they have to cut him now

Test squad for the 1st match against South Africa:

Ross Taylor (capt), Brent Arnel, Trent Boult, Doug Bracewell, Andrew Ellis, Martin Guptill, Chris Martin, Brendon McCullum, Rob Nicol, Tim Southee, Daniel Vettori, BJ Watling, Kane Williamson

Ellis? Seriously? I'd love to know what role he could possibly play in a Test match. We'll play the 4 seamers anyway so hopefully he's no chance.

Is Nicol good enough to open in Test cricket against Steyn and Philander? Reward good form I guess. Maybe down the order to allow McCullum to continue opening?

I'd select from this squad:

Guptill
McCullum
Williamson
Taylor
Nicol
Vettori
Watling+
Bracewell
Southee
Boult
Martin

Happy so see Ryder given the flick from the Test side. No dramas with Nicol getting picked. Interesting that two guys who are right up there in Plunket Shield will probably never get another look-in, Sinclair and James Marshall. Franklin averaging 90 but no match for South Africa's bowling.

Kruger van Wyk to debut tomorrow in place of BJ Watling who's out with a hip injury. Boo.

Hopefully a nice spicy Dunedin pitch is in store. A low scorer is our best chance.

After Watling they really don't have much in the keeping department. Will be good if Ronchi can get a go in the national side when he heads over in a few more weeks.

With a name like that does he have a South African background ?
More than just a background! Born and lived in South Africa until he was 27 (I think) and moved to NZ purely to eventually qualify for the national team. With him, Elliot, de Grandhomme and soon Wagner, it's becoming a joke. I don't care where players are born, it's when they move purely for cricketing reasons that it gives me the shits.

I think its a case of lifestyle as well as cricket for these guys, and if they meet the qualifying rules I dont have a problem with it.

Umpires reckon 59 overs still left in the day.

Terrific little oval, looks like it's about 5 degrees tops, over the ditch.

Chris Martin!!!!!!!! Has found some nip and swing out of absolutely nowhere. Picks up Smith, Kallis (duck) and ABDV (duck) in the space of four balls. 1/90 to 4/90 on a track that has played very flat. None of the other quicks have moved the ball at all.

SA 4/92.

Martin is darting it all over the place, was on a hat trick after getting Kallis and de Villiers.

Thankfully they are using DRS.
