So how do you gauge it?

Australia, South Africa and England have been rolled for under 100 in Tests in the last 3 months.

Those 3 are the supposed best.

Sri Lanka got rolled for 40 odd in an ODI in South Africa.

Yet for Associate teams, it is a closed shop.
And Pakistan have been rolled for under 100 in a recent Test as well.

Nethula bowled beautifully tonight, much better than the first game where he hardly gave the ball any air. Threw the ball up nicely tonight (around the 86kph mark seemed ideal) and got enough turn (on a flat track and with a very new ball) to trouble both edges of the bat. Had Chakabva tied in knots and got a good catch at slip. Very impressive. I couldn't believe Riggor was complaining he wasn't turnning the ball enough, beat the edge plenty and put plenty of revs on the ball out of the hand. Looks as if he'd get big turn on a 3rd-4th day wicket with an older ball. A real find.

As for the Ireland/Zimbabwer debate, the only real reason to find out is to add Ireland to the Future Tours Program and have them play regular 3-ODI series against Test nations with 4-day matches against domestic sides on the side.

It's hard to; I just think Ireland have more talent at their disposal.

Paul Stirling, George Dockrell and Kevin O'Brien are the three in particular that I rate highly.
Let's just hope England keep their filthy hands off them. Paul Stirling has already stated he's committed to playing for Ireland, but Dockrell is definetly on England's radar and plays regular first XI County cricket.

Niall O'Brien, Porterfield and John Mooney are other very good players.

Extremely disappointing tour by Zimbabwe, so far anyway, their batsmens techniques in the test looked hopelessly inept which is somewhat a surprise since there are some quality experienced batsmen in Taylor and Taibu.

Bowling wise they have quite simply been belted. I hoped they would be able to compete well and at least give us cricket fans some indication that they are slowly clawing back the gap. Having said that it is good to see New Zealand going strongly at the moment and crowds showing up to watch albeit at small grounds.

Very disappointing for Zimbabwe, Brendan Taylor looks to be becoming the Steve Tikolo player for them. Very handy with the bat, but support being a rare thing.
Vitori started his ODI career well, be it against Bangladesh, but against some aggressive international quality batsmen, he's hit a brick wall. Snedden, Lewis and Southee welcome you to the club.
Rob Nicol looks to be the goods as an international player, though it is hard to judge based on the Zimbabweans performance!

Zimbabwe might be a chance to post their first win of the tour.

Still wouldn't be surprised if NZ chased that total down with the way they have been murdering the Zim bowlers.

Great last over from Williamson, hitting 4 6 4 to get NZ home.

Have to feel for Zimbabwe though just missing out on their first win of the tour.

The size of some of the NZ grounds are a joke; who'd be a bowler sometimes.

I remember when McCullum made a 100 in a limited overs fixture against us; most of his 6's were filthy slogs that just carried over tiny boundaries...shots that would make the Don roll in his grave.

When he reached his 100, one of the Kiwi commentators described it as the best innings that you'd be likely to see.

Flogs of the highest order.

I would love the day when Zimbabwe comes to Australia to play some ODIs, and K Meth is playing for Zimbabwe, and some Australians hold up that "I heart Meth' sign on TV

I would love to also hear Tony Greig saying "So Do I"

^ its time for you to retire Tony

They have short boundaries in Aussie too, Do you not see how far they move the rope in ? Its 20/20, they want to see runs scored.
