I'm just interested to see what the opinion on the result of the upcoming Newcastle/Liverpool game at St. James' Park will be. With Owen out for Liverpool it will be interesting, because he had completely dominated this fixture in the past. Personally I think Newcastle are in good enough form at home and with Owen out I think they can grab a win. Newcastle's defensive problems may give Liverpool hope though.

I still remember this fixture a few years ago when Newcastle fought back from 3-0 down but were heartbroken by Fowler's stoppage time goal:(

Newcastle 2-1.

Murphy is out suspended for Liverpool and the guy who just loves scoring against Newcastle in Owen is out injured. Normally goals are a flowing in these encounters and they are great contests.

Im predicting Liverpool 3 - 1

Gerrard to be the architect behind the victory and the scorer of one of the goals as well

No murphy, owen will make it tough. But when your first teamers are out...it gives you a chance to show some of your youth....and maybe we will find a champion...or maybe not. I'm glad Diouf and Baros are getting a chance against quality opposition.

Is Hamman playing?

Speed out for 6 weeks, Solano doubtful, Dyer under a thick cloud and Robert playing like a pussy. So really our first-string midfield is out. I'd expect to see Lua Lua in midfield as he was against Spurs for a time, with Jenas stepping up. Unfortunately Viana is out for a prolonged period.

Word is that Ameobi and Bellamy are both going to miss and young Chopra may get his first start if Lua Lua has to playi n midfield. Forget Rooney. Forget Milner. Chopra is the next big thing.

Carter, while our defending away from SJP has been absolute crap, at home it has been relatively sound. The only home match we conceded more than 1 goal was our 2-0 loss to Leeds at the start of the season. And without Owen, who as you said seems to have a knack of scoring against us, I think we are a chance. Who is going to replace young Michael? Diouf? Heskey? Milan Baros is a worry. How's he been playing recently? Riise is my major concern though.

Toon 2-0 with Shearer adding to his tally.

If Liverpool don't win this game... oh I don't even want to entertain such a thought. We just have to win this game against Newcastle... anything but a win is surely the end of any realistic title hopes on Merseyside this season.

Prediction: Liverpool 1-0 with Diouf scoring the winner.

No Hamman is not playing i do believe.

A lot depends on Houlliers tactics. If Liverpool go to ST James Park all defensive playing for a draw which is what i read a guy predicting on Sky Sports my TV will be out the window.......lol lol

I want Houllier to go there with all guns a blazing so the 3 points come back to Anfield.

The key is Gerrard

The Anfield faithful can dream all they like but on current form there is no way the points are leaving Newcastle.

I thought it was only Newcastle fans that are dreaming, especially when they continue to put the words 'Newcastle' and 'title' in the same sentence!! :p

Liverpool are without Owen, Hamann etc so really it is a great chance for us to beat Liverpool especially being at St James Park.

As Daics said we may be without Bellamy as he still recovers from injury with his "one game a week policy" but i cant see him standing this one out and i expect Bellamy and Shearer to start the game. Dyer is in doubt but there is no muscle tear in his calf, Nobby will play but Sir Bob is just worrying about another hit to the head. Maybe it could be a chance for Acuna to step up and have a go in the midfield?

Me Liverpool mate is coming around at 3:45am to watch the game and heres hoping we come out on top, 2-1 to the toon. A win would certainly help us maintain a position in the top 4 to continue on in the champions league especially with that game in hand.

Wasn't it funny watching that rabble out there today? (Liverpool I mean) 10 matches on the trot without a win and I can't see that changing on current form.

1-0 Newcastle, Liverpool never really had a real chance. Well done to the boys, especially the midfield that was missing Dyer, Nobby Solano, Gary Speed and Hugo Viana.

Doesn't really matter....we're not going to win the league and neither are you.

Spot on...

Any Newcastle fan who seriously thinks they can challenge Arsenal and Manchester United in the title race is living in a fantasy world.

I think it is about us staying in the top 4 and getting that Champions League spot rather then winning the league but stranger things have happened. Maybe Liverpool can settle on an Intertoto spot at this rate.

Getting a bit bitter after 10 games without a win eh?

Seeing as though we're never going to purchase any wingers whilst GH is manager then it doesn't matter where we finish if we're not going to win the league, as we won't go anywhere in Europe anyway. And I don't think beating a 'rabble' at home by 1 goal to nil is championship winning form.

We may not win the title, but we have more of a chance than you do......

Well considering we have absolutely no chance of winning the title, it's not hard.

Liverpool - no chance!
Newcastle - next to no chance!
