MRP / Trib. Newcombe hit on Howe

Love some absolute meat-heads trying to score points. Spot the differences between this contest and Steven May. Or rather, tell me exactly which part of Newcombe's shoulder makes contact with Howe's head.
Nothing to do with a shoulder, it's entirely outcome based. Second to the ball, had plenty of time to avoid, knocked him out cold.

And I do chordle at all the those saying it will be cleared as he didn't bump...

That was exactly what the AFL conceded in the May 3 week suspension

So many salty peeps wanting a Hawks player to get suspended. Laughable.

Went to tackle, arms down, no jumping, no shoulder charge/bump, slowed down etc. Did everything correctly and nothing wrong.

Just an unfortunate accident.

0 weeks

Its just Melbourne fans still angry about the May suspension (which I think was unfair honestly)

It will be 0 weeks, its not a serious thread and its certainly not a Hawthorn hatred thread

May wasnt trying to tackle though was he? Newcombe is just supposed to let Howe get the ball and run off with it is he? Forceful body contact is still allowed you know.

Newcombe should have known how the ball was going to bounce bro, he's cooked 🫠

"Tribunal chair Jeff Gleeson asserted that May should have perceived he was unlikely to reach the ball first—based on how the ball was bouncing—and therefore had a duty of care to slow down or adjust his path to avoid the collision."

They also concluded he didn't choose to bump.

"AFL tribunal “acknowledged the incident was not a bump,” meaning they recognized the collision wasn’t a deliberate bump. However, they still ruled that “May should have adjusted his approach to avoid contact,"

What's the term?

'They've made a rod for their own backs...'

It shouldn't be anything. Would not be surprised at three weeks though. Think the slight change in direction towards Howe before the impact will end up ****ing him.

I don't actually think he should get suspended mate, in my opinion it is just a huge worry that May got suspended for his act. They could apply the exact same logic in this scenario and it would fit just as well.

I know people probably think I'm just salty because a Melbourne player was suspended, I couldn't care less to be honest. I only tune into the Dee's games to have a laugh these days anyways. I still love watching other games though, and in my opinion this is the best sport to watch. The big issue is the precedent being set by that decision, in a 360 degree contact sport like the AFL there has to be room for incidental contact.

People have said for years the game is going soft. There’ve been calls in the past I didn’t agree with, but at least I could see where they were coming from. This one’s different, they basically ruled that May shouldn't have even gone for the ball. If players start second guessing whether they should contest the ball, the game is going down a very dark road.

Thanks for reminding me.

Here's another hypocrite.
You're in a thread called "Newcombe hit on Howe". You go ahead clever boy and tell me which part of him caused this "hit"?

Knocked him out cold with a headbutt, brilliant manouvre from Jai. Gold star to you for picking up on it, I reckon plenty of others will try it now.

Melbourne fan are complete idiots. They think May's 'reaction time' starts from the moment his opponent gets the ball. It didn't it started when started charging towards the contest 6 seconds earlier. There's no comparison between the incidents at all.

Like I said in the May thread, people's brains are broken if they can't see May lined up Evans way off the ball.
