only one player had eyes solely on the ball and it wasnt newcombe
Cool, and then Newcombe got split up the middle by Howe who tried to slam through the oncoming player.

Are you going to pretend like Newcombe did anything other than leave himself wide open?

It's not Jai's fault that he's built of adamantium and Howe is an old calcium deficient geezer.

Cool, we agree that newcombe elected to focus on the player and not the ball, then cool we agree that newcombe is responsible for the outcome, and cool we agree newcombe gets 10weeks for being a brainless twat
we cool with that?

Melt harder. Newcombe tackled, it's a perfectly fine action for him to take. The head collision was accidental.

Yeah, the more I have watched it the more obvious it becomes that Howe was the one who cannoned into Newk, not the other way round.

Not saying Howe lined up Newk, or that it was deliberate in any way, more that Newcombe was approaching a contest, got split right up the middle and somehow came off the best.

Wow, just wow. Not sure what you're looking at tbh. Newcombe clearly took his eyes off the ball and played the man, albeit in the last 2-3 steps. That is undisputeable.

Would you honestly have the same opinion if this was Maynard v Gunston and Jack was the one concussed?

He is allowed to tackle the oncoming player. What I posted is fact.

Arms out ready to tackle as soon as Howe gets the ball.

Newcombe did everything that the AFL wanted May to do.

Realised he was going to be second to the ball so adjusted and went to tackle.

So as I said. Because he did everything the AFL want I assume they will shift the goalposts and give him three weeks.
Anyone who has been paying attention this is absolutely spot on 🤣

Despite all the 'iT's a tOuGh gAmE' nuffies trying to play armchair defence lawyer, the reality is that his eyes are on Howe well before contact is made, not the ball, which is the crucial factor here.

If you make deliberate contact with the opposition player, then you are responsible for the outcome.

You may not like that simple concept, but it remains a simple concept.

Now, that doesn't mean he won't get let off as the MRP and tribunal are inconsistent clown shows.

Howe was the one who cannoned into Newk, not the other way around.

Of course he is allowed to tackle him, but there is a duty of care to tackle correctly, go low, and not lead with your head.

And just because you use emotive words like cannoned doesn't make it right. It is 100% clear that Howe was running a line for the ball. Newcombe probably was initially too, but he definitely switches focus for the last few steps.

Cry harder.

Here are the facts:

Newcombe is moving away from Howe at the end, as you can see his direction and body position is moving away.

May moved towards Evans in a direct line.

You can see here Howe is looking at Newcombe while Newks is looking at the ball, despite being the same distance from the ball.

May was further out from the ball, while Evans was much closer.

May lined up Evans and correctly received three weeks. This was an accidental head collision.

If you can't see the "difference" in accidents versus a player lining someone up... You're lost. May could've avoided contact Newcombe and Howe couldn't in the same way.

You have the right to tackle but you are also responsible for executing the tackle in such a way that doesn’t leave your opponent severely concussed.

It's pretty simple.

Hawthorn supporters were the most boisterous in the Steven May thread for whatever reason, and interestingly those very same people have barely said 'Boo' in this thread...
Only 2 in the top 12 mate. Do I need to define “lots” for you, genius. Did notice your name right up there though. Ha ha.

John Ralph said he made an attempt to tackle but to me it was more like a body check (essentially a bump). Hardly saw any movement of arms to actually grab Howe.

Given we know they take into account duty of care, I reckon he could be suspended. You can't just run into people recklessly and expect there to be zero consequences.
Its amazing its people incentivised by Newcombe getting weeks posting this garbage 🤣
Won't even be looked at, stop embarrassing yourself

OK, so it’s pretty clear you have no idea what you’re talking about.

How the hell do you go low, but not lead with your head when tackling? 😂

I think you should sit this one out, buddy.

It wasn't the tackle that left him concussed,

It was his head hitting the ground after the collision.

If Howe had been able to brace his fall (which Newcombe didn't prevent - there was no pinning of the arms etc) then he wouldn't have been concussed.

I guarantee Newcombe won't get suspended for that.

Once he worked out he wasn't going to get the ball, and change direction to intercept the player he was in trouble based on previous MRP cases.

It should be 3 weeks.

I do wonder with finals on the horizon, if they relax the rules for a few weeks.

Are head on head collisions still considered High by the MRP?
And again 🤣

This way, it's that simple duh
