Newman's Simon Black Tirades

I don't know if this has been discussed, but who saw Sam Newman's "Who the hell is Simon Black?" tirades a while ago, after Simon moved over to Bris from East Freo in 98?

Um wasn't that Heath Black when the Dockers signed him up for a further 2 or 3 years???

He came back to Melbourne anyway

Over here - we don't like talking about the circumstances which saw a huge Eagles fan (Black) end up in Brissy while we drafted a crab (literally - Jaxon Crabb) with our first pick.

I'd believe it from Newman however. His comic talent is good, but I've never really respected him for his grip on the modern game.

Really though, who can tell what a player is going to turn out like? There was much ado about nothing in the West this week about who the Eagles and Dockers selected ahead of Black. It would be fantastic to have a crystal ball to predict how a player is going to develop. Every club has selected duds only to let a player who turns out to be a champ down the track, slip through the net.
