Took the drive out to Princes Park this morning, to watch the Bullants go through their final practice match against Coburg. Whilst we ran out winners by about 10 or so points, the pleasing aspect was how many Carlton listed players had a good day at the office.
Adam Bentick - Played through the midfield and probably had 30+ touches. Ran forward, ran back, tackled, good at the clearances, and was clearly BOG. In my mind, would be a certainty to come into the Carlton team next week.
Aisake O'hailpin - More and more impressed with this guy as the weeks go by. Rotated between the forward line and the ruck, with stints on the bench. His athletisism is just unreal considering his size, and backs himself to run around players ala Kade Simpson. His kicks on goal still need some work, but he is getting there.
Darren Pfieffer - Played through the midfield like AB, and really provided some pretty solid run through there, and his kicking and decision making was very solid. Could be in line for a senior call up soon, although a couple more weeks with the Ants might be on the cards
Clinton Benjamin - First thing I noticed about Clint was his kicking - it has improved no end. IIRC, all of his kicks were effective, and he seems to have some confidence in his game. Got turned around once when the ball was being delivered into the forward line, but overall, he was very solid.
David Ellard - Looks the most likely to the new rookies this year. As we saw in the NAB Cup, he is very composed, and uses the ball very well. Let himself down a little in front of goals, but when he moved into the midfield, he did a pretty good job in there as well.
Steven Browne - Had a quiet start, but worked his way into the game very well. Played off a HBF, and also had some stints in the midfield. Like Ellard, has the composure that you don't often see in first year players. Uses the ball very well, good decisions, and also pretty good overhead. Wouldn't be surprised if he debut's in the first half of the season
Dennis Armfield - Mr. 1%. Does alot of hardwork off the ball. Chase, tackles, blocks, smothers and shepards. He also ran off his opponent a few times today, and provided a linkman style game between HB and HF.
As I said, lots of good signs coming out of the game today.
And Bannister mustn't, he simply mustn't.Cheers for the report HBF
At least we beat Richmond at something eh
Bentick must play next week, he simply must play.
Bannister played some great football on Thursday, I think that's a bit harsh. And Bannister mustn't, he simply mustn't.

Really starting to get the shits with this attitude.Bannister played a very credibly game on Friday...not sure what the guy needs to do to earn some respect.
People seem to form an opinion and stick to it no matter what the guy does.
....Is that you Jordan? In true Judd style I am just easing into it for the moment, hope to be at my best around mid season!![]()

All things considered I thought Cam rucked well, in fact he probably got the better of his opponents.....
He had a crack all game and that's a big ask
Looking forward to seeing Armfield. Quick, tough little bugger in the mould of Jake King, who had a ripper against us on Thursday. Really need someone in the team who can lay a good tackle.Cheers HBF.
Given our obvious deficiencies on thursday, the sooner a couple of Pfieffer, Bentick and Armfield are promoted the better.

Did Ash Hockey play HBF?
If so how'd he go?
Hey HBF....how did Irish Mk 3 go ?
Earth Station to HBF, come in...........
No he didn't Macca
Played in the seconds, which started after the seniors at 1:45. Had a couple of kicks, but I didn't even stay until quarter time. Gilly may be able to help you out more.
I'm here thylacine. Do you have a question for me?
Same with Bentick, much maligned.Couldn't agree more, everyone loves a scapegoat and he seems to be one of ours. Did his job and you could not ask for much more on Thursday night from Bannister.
He's had an interrupted pre-season. We already have enough unfit players. He isn't the type to tag Dal Santo.Same with Bentick, much maligned.
I was surprised he wasn't selected last week, is our best tagger and tackler - maybe cos it was tigers they thought we could just go head-to-head and win the midfield but vs the Saints i'd expect Bentick to be recalled to tag Dal Santo or Montagna.
