Terrorist attack foiled in Sydney
POLICE have allegedly stopped an imminent terror attack with the arrest of two men at Bankstown today.

The men were believed to be in Featherstone Rd at Bankstown when they were apprehended by police.

A police source told the Daily Telegraph the arrests were related to a new terror plot and not any that are before the courts.

They are being questioned at Bankstown police station.

A NSW Police Force spokeswoman said there was an ongoing investigation but declined to comment further.
Can a pair of lone wolves be considered "lone"?

ONE person has reportedly been shot and another stabbed during a “brutal confrontation” at Australian supermodel Miranda Kerr’sMalibu mansion.

According to TMZ, a security guard at the house confronted an intruder who went over a fence on Friday morning.

The intruder stabbed the guard in the eye, and the guard then shot the intruder multiple times, the gossip website reports.

According to TMZ, one bullet struck the intruder in the head.

Aerial footage of the home surrounded by emergency services was broadcast by KTLA.

Both the intruder and the security guard were flown to hospital and are expected to survive.

Kerr, who apparently lives at the house with her five-year-old son Flynn, was absent at the time of the incident.

A photo posted on the Twitter by the LA County Sheriff’s Department shows a medics treating a Malibu stabbing victim in flight. The patient’s identity is not clear.

Why would any self-respecting Muslim want to come here? Are they told we are prone to laughing at religious caricatures, or only how much money they can expect to be given? Harden up Australia.

The age trying to create sympathy for the alleged bank fire bomber..... probably should crop out the 40 inch tv

Parts of that article are highly inflammatory. He would want to be declared stark raving mad because there is no logical justification for what he did.

If living in Australia is such a demanding existence as is being implied in the article, they should ask to be sent home. Which is surely where this bloke is going as soon as he's well enough.

Edit: definitely no pun intended with "highly inflammatory"

But as police continue their investigation into the attack, a university student told Channel Seven on Sunday night he had witnessed Mr Islam playing poker machines until he ran out of money.

The student, identified only as Hasma, said the man, who told him he was from Myanmar, tried to sell him an iPhone worth $600 for $50 at the Vale Hotel in Springvale a few weeks ago.

"If that doesn't say desperation, I don't know what does," the student told Seven.

Hasma said the man, who he was convinced was Mr Islam, also asked to borrow money from him.

"He pulled out a Commonwealth Bank card and he was telling me he had $40 or $50 in his account. He said, 'I can come to the bank with you tomorrow - just lend me another $50'."

One of Mr Islam's housemates told Fairfax Media that he did lend him an iPhone about a month ago, which Mr Islam said he had lost.

*facepalm*
