Reading this story I couldn't help but notice the parents put him in a care facility and went on a family holiday without him? Ouch that's gotta hurt. You could easily argue if he had a family this wouldn't have happened.
It's an understandable first impression, but when you read just how autistic he was, what the parents would have endured over the years, you know they would have needed a break at some point.

Watching the news tonight waiting for the footy, i see a story from Spain, where thousands of people turned out in protest of a lenient sentence handed down to two rapists. They both received 9 years (i feel thats a heavy sentence by our standards) but it got me thinking.

We see everyday, people getting pathetic sentences for horrible horrible crimes. Sexual assault, rape, one punch attacks, stabbing, drug trafficking, murder and what do we do about it? Nothing.

It really makes me think we as Australians just let politicians walk all over us and makes me sad we aren't strong enough to effect change.

He did have a family. Who are mourning his loss. Not sure what you mean? Respite care is just that: a respite for carers. It's a tough job and I don't think we can begrudge anybody wanting a brief rest from it.

We've already seen vigilante groups form to keep their neighborhoods safe from home invasions.

If this ridiculous protection of criminals continues, Charlie Bronson is coming to life. Bookmark it.

Women who bashed paramedic avoid jail despite mandatory six-month sentences
A paramedic who suffered career-ending injuries when two women viciously bashed him as he tried to treat a patient is “appalled” they have avoided jail.

He said to use drugs, alcohol and mental health “as an excuse is the easy way out”.

"It leaves the door open for everybody to have an excuse to do what they want with no repercussions," Mr Judd said.

Oh man. This guy has summed up in one dirty little sentence what is wrong with Victoria's rotten judiciary.

True societal vandals. GTFO you campaigners!

https://www.independent.co.uk/news/...-shooting-video-sniper-protests-a8298196.html - They removed a couple of seconds where the guy was actually shot, but no threat from the guy, just standing around and Israeli soldiers shoot him from hundreds of metres away.
  • Following its preliminary investigation, the IDF released a statement saying: the shooting occurred after efforts to disperse a violent riot had failed; the victim, who was not killed in the incident, had been shot in the leg after failing to heed repeated warnings; and the video had not been take by the sniper, but a solider from a different unit, who would be "dealt with on the command level" for the unauthorised footage, its distribution and the statements made in it.
How true that is, who knows.
But apparently the footage was shot months ago, and got leaked at an unfortunate time. Pretty disgraceful. It just fuels an already out of control fire.

Speaking of Israel-Palestine, an article I agree with:

The dude was standing around from what I could see. I am assuming he was in his own country, shot from across the border with no immediate reason. Any court of law would convict me if I did that from inside my house. Given they were whooping about hitting him in the head, we can only assume they were trying to kill him.

Whoever he was, whatever group he was a part of or action he was taking part in, he wasn't doing a thing when he was shot. Bloody awful behaviour but of course nobody who took part will suffer any consequences. They only seem upset the guys shared the film.

Yes, that's all I could see too, he wasn't rioting or being violent or causing trouble, it was like they were bored or something, and just wanted a bit of 'fun'. Not impressed. And I can't see many repercussions. But if there are any, I doubt the IDF would reveal it.

Apparently there’s a a culture war on

https://www.theage.com.au/politics/...xt-on-the-liberal-agenda-20180525-p4zhho.html

Got two no three comments

1 to me they are a little like those Japanese soldiers who were found on remote pacific islands decades after the war was over, bust thy didn’t realise they lost

2 you can’t legislate people’s attitudes

3 if they really think they are fighting the good fight for the family unit and religious morals, WHY THE HELL are they so happy for a soft pornographer like Murdoch to be one of their main weapons?

The stupidity in this is on another level entirely.

The prosperity gospel is an American theological tradition, which essentially says that God is a rampant capitalist who makes true believers wealthy and blessed. (The prosperity gospel popularized the term ‘blessed’ and helped turned it into a hashtag.) A 2006 Time poll found 17% of American Christians identify with the movement, while 31% believe that “if you give your money to God, God will bless you with more money”.

Pope Francis grants indulgences for Dublin participants
BBC News

Participants attending the World Meeting of Families in August can be forgiven their sins or help a relative speed through purgatory.

Pope Francis has granted a "plenary indulgence" for those taking part.

In Catholic doctrine an indulgence frees you from being punished for your previously committed sins or it can be passed on to dead relatives to shorten their time in purgatory.
