That was my comment last nite as I desperately searched for a silver lining to this big black cloud!!

Well, the response from the Bulldog supporter near me who informed me that our chances of being there were quite slim was vulgar, to say the least.

I am so glad we won sooooooo easily!!!

Some poor white trash Bulldog supporter decided he'd hang over to yell out to Duck that he was glad he 'did' his ankle.

In true form, I told him where to go when he left half way through the last quarter and I'll be glad when he breaks his neck.

Wish I was there to tell the guy that the Duck has won more premierships in his career than his club have in their entire history......

The booing and jeering when Carey came off was absolutely disgraceful, and a couple of people have mentioned their disgust on our official forum. Cold comfort, i know, but there's not much i can do to defend idiots like these.

I don't blame ya's for being absolutely filthy, as i would be exactly the same if Grant or West looked to have had injured themselves badly and got that kind of treatment (bronx cheers and the like) from opposition fans.

Anyway, just wanted ya's to know that most dogs supporters agree that it was bloody poor form. You guys blew us away buy kicking something like 5 straight after he went off, and he'll be back better and stronger in a few weeks. What happened with THAT kick though? ;)

Glad to hear that not all Bully fans are knuckleheads, Westyboy! The jeers really angered me but I must say there was only one Bully fan near me that joined in and the others were quiet. At least it didn't happen at Football Park, they would have had a halftime parade!!!!!

Don't worry yourself about THAT kick, just remember the snap in the first term!! Off just two steps, BANG, straight thru the middle...so it was disallowed by a ridiculous free against us, he still kicked it.

And it would have been his 650th career goal too roobie! Not to mention a new North record hey Darky!! I don't necessarily think that Grant is a protected species but he certainly got a few "koalas" on Friday. Thanks for putting things into perspective Westy, as they say ,"we've all got 'em"!

I think I could put quiet a large amount of money, on the fact that I dont think that you would ever hear Roo supporters on mass cheering anyone who got hurt, no matter who it was. It is not suprising that the Bulldog supporters are at no.4 on the Feral Meter in todays paper. With all due respects to Westy, as we know he wouldnt do it, the Bulldog supporters are getting very frustrated with their teams performance over the last few years. And they have trouble excepting that we have had that much more success than they have. And it did not go unnoticed (well not by me anyway) that there were not many of them there for a home game on Friday night. The seating that is usually full up was empty either side of their cheer squad. Had that been a Kangas home game we would have had this pointed out to us in no uncertain terms. There were only 6000 more than the day we played Freo. Wait till next week when the crowd will be small (even if it is an interstate side, and being a long weekend to boot) we will have it pushed in our faces every which way. And if anyone believes there were 28,ooo people at theHawthorn/West Coast game yesterday then....... then.... then......... I dont know what, but you get my drift.

If the Duck got injured at the 20 min of the last quater. There was not any Footscray supporters left to boo. They should do a fickle poll on the back of the sun next week. There would not be to many changes in the top 4 at least.

That last train back to Snorbans can be pretty hairy!

Hang on... that's BECAUSE of the Footscray supporters. :p If they were all on the 10pm train, the ones closer to midnight would have been safe. :)

As both a Bulldogs and Roos member, who has been to see both teams play nearly every week (in Melbourne), I can honestly say that there is not much difference between supporters from both clubs.
All teams have their poor supporters some do have more than others though , ala Collingwood :D .

I sat near the worst Roos supporters I'd ever heard in Friday's night's game. They were loud and obnoxious , they abused the Dog's players and our own players. So , yes we have crap supporters too.

I'm sure they must have supported Collingwood in previous years - or lives ;) .

Not disputing that we have crap supporters, but it takes a special sort of idiot to cheer someone when they are hurt. And so many of them as well, still put my money on the fact that you would not get that reaction from Kanga supporters no matter how crap they are.

Have to agree with Daphne,

Generally North supporters are very fair don't think it is in the spirit of the game to 'boo' an injured player.

I remember when North played St Kilda at Waverley and I think it was Hughton or Thopmson who grabbed Carey's left arm in an attempt to stop him from marking. Of course, it didn't work Carey still took a strong one-handed mark, but in the course of trying to stop Carey, he rolled his ankle (or something) and had to be taken off.

St Kilda supporters in front of me had been annoying all day, so as Hughton or Thompson was carried off, our cheer squad clapped politely and I said in a voice, loud enough for any St Kilda supporter to hear, something along the lines "Oh, that's the North Melbourne cheer squad and they are cheering off an injured opposition player, unlike St Kilda's cheer squad or 'cage' who laughed and clapped when Corey was injured."

Those St Kilda supporters were very quiet for the rest of the afternoon.

I truly cannot understand supporters who laugh and clap when a play is badly injured. What absolute morons.

I expect we should be able to win without Wayne on Sunday against the Shiitfish, but Hawthorn presents a tougher challenge. With a bit of luck for us, the Hawks won't get too many injured players back, and we'll be hoping for our sake that Barker gets 2 weeks from the tribunal.
With the split round giving the boys a rest in-between, hopefully three to four weeks might only mean 2 matches, both winnable ones given the current circumstances.
Corey and Sav worked well together on Friday night in Wayne's absence, and hopefully will be able to hold the forward line together while the King recovers.
