I wonder what John Logmire's status is. Sydney looks like they may be on a slide. May we tempt him to come to Adelaide.
Don't actually know how I feel about Longmire. No doubt he's good, but is he great? Not sure whether he's made that many changes to Roos' Sydney. Just tinkered here and there and added big names that carry the side to an extent.

Dew took over from Tudor as midfield coach in 2014. In that time Sydney have gone from 1st to 5th in contested possessions and 1st to 9th in clearances, which is shocking considering the big bodies they have in their midfield.
Dew had SFA to do with the foolish decision to get rid of Mumford, he had zero to do with Mike Pyke being almost a "cripple" this year, he had zero to do with recruiting KPF Franklin and KPF/2nd rate Ruck Tippett when they were obviously in need of a first class ruckman....the reason they have goner from 1st to 5th in CP's and 1st to 9th in clearances is they get towelled in ruck every week now.

I hope Campo is auditioning for the job. If he keeps on as is, he will be the obvious choice.
I'm impressed by his match day coaching, the positive moves he's made with the side so far--Jenkins closer to goal, our improved movement away from stoppages, backing Riley, Rat and Martin, and his general demeanour and handling of a difficult time for the club.
Early days, I know, but positive signs.

We will struggle to find another experienced assistant coach such as Walsh, to coach us. If its experience that we want then we must look at a current head coach. I believe the club should do everything it can to get Alastair Clarkson. Last year many on here wanted him but there was a feeling that Alastair would stay at Hawthorn and attempt to get a threepeat of flags. Its looks like that is going to happen. This may result with Alastair looking for a new challenge. Given the list we have (hopefully Danger stays) there is a lot for any new coach to work with. So the move to the Crows could be viewed as a positive one by a man like Clarkson.
I just can't think that many (if any) situations where poaching a premiership winning coach has netted a premiership for the new side. My concern would be that Clarkson's drive wouldn't be there anymore, and we'd end up with a Blight to St Kilda sort of scenario instead.

Could you remind me what year Mumford left? ;)

Not that I want Dew but I'd say losing Mumford and having Pyke take over as their #1 ruck is a big reason for their clearance numbers dropping so much.
They're actually only averaging 0.8 less hitouts per game this season than they were in 2013 yet they are averaging 2.3 less clearances and a staggering 15.8 less contested possessions per game this year.

Based on absolutely nothing other than a gut feel, I just don't think Dew is the right man for us. Obviously he will be highly considered, but I struggle to find reasons why I want him as coach. We're shopping for a coach at a terrible time - considering the lack of current experienced coaches. To add to the difficulty, it wouldn't surprise me if Essendon were also on the hunt for a new coach at the end of the year as well.

There's plenty of talk about just how poor Pyke has been in the ruck and is a real weak spot for Sydney at the moment (something they also tried to fill by chasing Ryder before the AFL decided to ban them from trading).

So I'd say Mumford was giving them plenty more quality taps and possibly just competing better so they don't clearly lose hitouts either perhaps.

Lack of hunger for the contest. Plenty of noses out of joint over there with two players taking up 20 odd percent of the salary cap. Just turning up to work and doing enough without going above and beyond.

But he has plenty to do.with Sydney not evolving their game plan post the Roos era

Given Dew took over stoppages in 2012, the year they won the GF. I doubt this years numbers are Dew's fault. 1 bad year does not make the coach bad. People told us that Betts poor form in 2013 was a good reason not to get him because he was cooked. How short sighted does the look now. One lower year

Oh year, can I let you know something..... Free kicks for and hit out to advantage are contested possessions. Come back to me with the drop in Hit out to Advantage that can be attributed to the loss of Mumford...... Last year they dropped a massive 10 hitouts from the previous two years. I don't have the hit out to advantage stat, but I bet there are a lot of cp's lost due to that.

I'm hearing that Woosha is absolutely loving his role
Excellent!

Personally, I'm not a Dew fan so the one thing I fear is that Worsfold apparently already has a mentoring relationship set up with Dew. I really don't want a Swans game plan and who knows if Dew can successfully instigate and manage his own plans. He's been in one system for a long time.

I still believe Pyke's football and life experience stacks up better, especially when topped off by the fact the Eagles are flying and he is roundly considered a great tactician. Eagles footy is far closer to Walsh's vision and style than Swans footy imo.

Pyke, Worsfold, Glass, Teague have a fair bit of shared heritage/relationships…that added to the fact most are here already could really help for a great transition.

Yeah not sure how they thought it wouldn't affect their bloods culture:rolleyes:

Would be one thing if it netted them all a few extra premierships, but right now it ain't looking good

Stoppage numbers have skyrocketed this season and as a result so have hit out numbers too. If their current rucks are as good as the ones in 2013 then they should be averaging more not less or the same.

Pretty sure Phil moved Jenkins closer to goal a while ago.

We need to find the next Clarkson (easier said than done) and make sure he is surrounded by a strong culture that demands elite standards from the CEO down to the boot studders. I reckon we're on the way to achieving the second part already.
