I think we really need a ruthless coach with a hard edge. Walsh may have ended up being that coach but even under him I thought there were some unacceptable efforts.

The playing group needs to be physically and mentally tougher during a match
Of course there were. He'd been in charge for 6 months and old habits can die hard

It takes more than 1 pre season to fix a club.....

Our list needs a cleanout. I have no idea why the likes of Mackay and Wright are continually given second, third and thirtieth chances at this club. Why is mediocrity rewarded and why do they have to play it so damn safe with list management and selection?

Losses like today, whilst they shouldn't be overreacted to, really highlight that mediocrity which bugs me. Our next coach must expect, and build towards, elite standards like Walshy did - not be an excuse manufacturer like Sanderson a year ago after the Brisbane match.

Is it possible to get a coach (say Pyke just as an example) and then hire Malthouse for the press conferences.

Would love to see Rucci packing it every press conference while Mick rips him apart, but not sure Malthouse is the coach we really need!

Maybe Malthouse can take over for Phil Harper as the media guy.

We won't get Luke Beverage but I want someone with him football values.

Work hard, follow team rules or you will get deroipped. Doesn't matter who you are.

Crameri and McCray have spent time in the VFL.

Treat every single player the same. Hold every single player to account and make then earn their place in the side.

The poll results here are telling. If Worsfold doesn't want the job, the members' resounding choice is Nathan Bassett.

Will the club listen and give him another hearing?

His press conferences would also be highly entertaining.
I love the bass but that doesn't mean he's right for the job.

We had a guy like McCrae dropped to the SANFL, the place went into meltdown.

I see what you're getting at though, he's a pretty no nonsense, polished performer.

I like your choices except I'd keep Martin and delist Otten.

Kerridge up for trade also.

Nah Martin is not up to it and we have plenty of mediocre midfielders. We need to keep our key position and utility players on the books for now.

Guys Don Pyle has a very balanced CV.

1. Played for West Coast (won B&F).
2. Was the west coast runner 1997-98. Walsh said his biggest spike of learning was as runner. You get to see the breakdown in messaging between coach & players.
3. Coached a team in his own right 1999-2000 (Claremont in WAFL).
4. Was a director on West Coast's board 2001-2004. This would be good to give him big picture perspective re club).
5. Midfield coach at Adelaide 2005-2006. We were a high quality side then. Coached Roo & was an assistant alongside noble (both on coaching selection panel).
6. Part time assistant back at Claremont for a few years while he worked in oil industry.
7. Assistant coach at west coast 2014-2015 responsible for strategy, stoppages and structures. Walsh said it is vital to be a midfield coach before taking on head coach role.

Bonus points:
Played with Worsfold so they might have a good relationship prompting Worsfold to stay on as Director of Coaching.

Also has an appreciation of the SANFL system.

Has worked at our club and has some affiliation with the crows.

Brother lives in Adelaide with his family.

Concerns:
Has be actually had enough AFL coaching experience? Total of 4 yrs with 7-8 yr gap.

He was poor before his latest ACL, hard to imagine he'd be any better now.

Too slow, not strong enough for his role, skills average to poor.
Andy Otten really needs the AFL to introduce a reduction in interchanges to say 40. That way, the game will slow down. If he tried to play F1 AFL football, he will be way too slow.

Hopefully he can hang on but I doubt it.
