    Warner is the safest bet...

Either Hughes, Wade or Warner for me, hopefully Pattinson!

In what respect is Warner an "eye player"? Every test batsman has a very good eye but you aren't giving him credit for his footwork and technique as a whole which is much tighter than people like to recognise here.

Virender Sehwag? now he is an "eye player". Take a look at the clips below. You can see Sehwag likes to take half a step forward and then slash outside the off-stump, frequently going for it with his wrists. His leg side work is slightly more "correct", but his footwork is still lacking.

Compare that to Warner. He has a good eye; he opens in test cricket so that's a given. However his technique (bat and pad position, height of his elbow, foot to the ball, in behind the short ones) is much tighter and more "correct" than Sehwag.

The only similarities between the two is their penchant for unnecessarily hitting the ball through the air and their stocky builds.

Probably also worth noting Sehwag debuted as a 23 year old for India and Warner when he was 25. The innings above are from when Sehwag was 26 and Warner at 25. If Warner gives us 80% of what Sehwag has to India then that is a win for us.

If Warner gives us 80% of what Sehwag has to India then he will play 80 Tests. ;)

Can't think of any likely candidates from the current lot apart from Hughes.

Hughes primarily due to his age and ability to change his technique to get reselected if dropped.

I'd say if Hughes gets dropped again, that will be it for him. Hard to see him getting a fourth crack at it.

Warner or Wade for me. Although what's stopping some young up and coming player knocking them out of their spot. I'd think Wade has got his spot locked in for a while now but you never know.

Warner. He's a marketing machine for CA so now he's well into the team it would take a long stretch for him to get the ass.

Only worry for Wade if he kept making runs at a similar pace is his wicket keeping. Basically if a keeper with better keeping skills(most of them) started making a lot of runs he could be in trouble. Unlikely at the moment however.

    I can't see Wade getting to 100.

    Hughes for me.

i would have to say wade, he's young and not many keepers get dropped due to there keeping skills. the only way he will be dropped is if he has a lean trott with the bat. also he only has at max 6 other keepers competing for his position whereas there are potentially 20 possible replacements for any batter.

I would be very surprised if any of the younger members of the current Test XI make it to 100 Tests. Australian cricket is currently in a transitional stage & I don't believe the next Boon, Ponting, Clarke, Border etc has arrived on the Test scene yet.

To those posters suggesting Lyon might get there, the media push for Zampa will see Lyon out of the Aussie team within the next 2 years (I would love to see Muirhead get some game time for Victoria as I believe him & Zampa are the 2 most talented young spinners currently plying their trade).

Hughes came to my head without even thinking. He will be the next captain and go down as one of the greats IMO.

for hughes to get to 100, he'd have to get dropped and recalled about 17 times.

If pattinson can get and keep himself fit then he's not a bad bet (his batting gives him the edge over the bevy of other quicks imo).

Hughes and Warner are the obvious favourites, in that order. But I would love for it to be Lyon.

His batting should not ever enter into whether or not he is in the side.

He's going to be a very good batsman IMO. He has a very good technique and has shown he has a very good cover drive and could possibly bat at 7 once Siddle has retired. He's going to be a genuine Allrounder
