If you don’t know why I don’t like Dangerfield just wait till he’s commentating games. You’ll see for yourself

He speaks with an understanding of the game that is much deeper than anyone on our list. He’s a really clear communicator and the media work that he does is really important for the club.I always wanted Boak

I don't think Joel would have even suited up for 2021 if we'd won it in 2020.Joel will go on next year. Meaning a majority of those listed are only a 1-3 year option. Give it to the bloke who is going to lead us to the clubs first 3-peat.

A bit pompousYou think he's a bit of a moron?
I just think Hawkins epitomises teamwork. He knows how to bring the team together and he's so respected. This year we've seen him deliver serious messages of accountability to teammates on field as well - the one highlighted some weeks ago was none other than Stewart I believe. He's no longer just the lovable big-guy who occasionally gets reported.Hawkins will, I think, go on next year no issues - but Selwood is probably done, even if we don't win one.
Hawkins hits me as the sort of guy who's a leader, but not a captain, if that makes sense. He doesn't have Selwood's assertiveness or sense of mongrel, but you'd really look up to him if you were a young forward.
Doesn't bother me in the slightest. Buckley showed he was plenty capable as a captain and a coach, and had a fair degree of FIGJAM on top of the pomposity.A bit pompous
Now Buckley is in the media I don’t mind him but as a coach I couldn’t stand him. As a kid I caught the end of his career, awesome player thoughDoesn't bother me in the slightest. Buckley showed he was plenty capable as a captain and a coach, and had a fair degree of FIGJAM on top of the pomposity.
He did manage to drag a pretty ordinary list of players within two minutes of a flag in 2018.Now Buckley is in the media I don’t mind him but as a coach I couldn’t stand him. As a kid I caught the end of his career, awesome player though
I'm one of them. I think there were a few holes in that list but the whole thing was purring very nicely. You’ll find many Geelong supporters who’d argue Chris Scott took a pretty ordinary list to a half time lead in the 2020 grand final.
.. however this year is so far beautiful
My thinking as well, kind of a link captain to the next more long term one.Even if it's just 2 years. We can go from there

Didn’t he save someone’s life? I never said he was a bad bloke. I didn’t even bring up the surfing thing either.I think you’re judging him way too harshly.
Half the stuff he says that he gets pinged for is actually him taking the piss out of himself and the fact that one of his own teammates dressed up in a suit and took a surfboard to mad Monday pretty much tells you all you need to know.
On game day on Saturday his first answer to a question about Collingwood was that they are all duck no dinner…. Before smiling and laughing about it.
He has never ever been involved in any scandal.
Same can’t be said for a few of his teammates that we still laud and respect (and rightly so)
He has never been a dirty player
He gives his absolute most in every game
He has a personality - Hawk is close to my favourite player of all time and the loveliest bloke imaginable but he’s very vanilla. There’s nothing wrong with some personality
He has a sense of humour
He has self awareness - he knew people took the Piss out of his alleged penchant for faking injury. So why not acknowledge it by wearing bandages to a press conference?
Not every fan is gonna like every player I get that and I accept it but if the worst thing going for someone is a bit of ego they’re probably not a bad bloke

I would just be embarrassed to have him captain the side I support after having the greatest captain in league history. Nothing embarrassing about Dangerfield’s personal accolades though.

The bolded is literally the exact reason he's disliked though. People just don't like players having confidence, charisma or a bit of off-field personality, especially if the player is a extremely good. It's pathetic, and it's an indictment of the average supporter, but it's true. Any time you hear a supporter spout the cliched line of "the players these days are like robots, it's so boring, I wish the players showed more personality" it is almost always a complete lie. Because despite what they say, people don't actually want that. They tear the unorthodox personalities down whenever they rise up by contriving self-justifying reasons to dislike any "different" personality.
In a way, "I wish the players showed more personality" is sort of the AFL discourse equivalent of "I wish politicians would talk more about policy, that's what I really care about as a voter", in that it's completely untrue BS that a majority of the general public gaslights themselves into thinking about themselves because it makes them feel good. Lol.

God please don't let him end up on Bounce.I think you’re judging him way too harshly.

The only person who thinks that Atkins it "too* fringe" is you. He's a lock now.Atkins is too* fringe to be captain. I would go with Stewart. Don't have to many choices imo
