It makes sense to me.I've just been told that it's a likely co-captains situation.
Stewart and Danger.
I'm actually not sure I buy it but this bloke is generally spot on.
Hope not. I’ve always seen this as a cop out, like “we aren’t 100% sure about player X so we also appoint player Y”I've just been told that it's a likely co-captains situation.

Who represents the club for the official team photo?

On that basis-Our last three captains have retired after winning the flag. So give it to whomever is going to retire in 2023 lol

Except Danger himself said he wants it.I’m kind of with you on that.
But where I specifically don’t like it is with a young team where they can’t work out who the best leader is.
That’s not where we sit.
We rest players, we run a small leadership group.
I’d prefer danger with Stewart VC.
But I have no problem with them sharing it.
They are too mature to have an ego issue.
One thing I do note is what Sanderson said a month back.
In that he thinks danger will play better without the responsibility. And he should know.
If anyone was next in line, why not Hawkins for a year? Good enough to be AA captain fwiw, (as was Danger once.)but missing early games would hurt that possibility.Sydney have done it and made it work.
I can see it happening..danger is next in line from joel in a way but if he takes it for 2-3 years stewart misses out forever (as he will be too old to take it then). This way we meet both objectives.

that locks out Stewart, CGuthrie and BlicavsShould be Danger, if you wear a headband you should be disqualified from running
And Jack Henrythat locks out Stewart, CGuthrie and Blicavs
3 of my 4 picks!And Jack Henry
Bandages around the head only.Should be Danger, if you wear a headband you should be disqualified from running
Slightly tongue in cheek, but I do think Danger would be a good skipper personally, those other blokes are obviously good headband wearing playersthat locks out Stewart, CGuthrie and Blicavs

Why are we taking so long to appoint our captain? As if they don’t know the attributes of Danger, Stewart, Blics, etc by now, and it is not like the club is in an early rebuild and needs a generational change.
I don’t think the delay helps the new captain as he will want to be getting on with the job post Selwood.
But in recent seasons, we all knew it would be Joel. So a completely different situation.I'm guessing we're doing what we've generally done over recent seasons in regards to announcing our captain & our leadership group - waiting until our season launch with the announcement to be made at that time
Guthrie Snr spoke about it in an article on the AFL website yesterday:
MIDFIELD stalwart Cam Guthrie has revealed Geelong's senior players have been given a major say on how best to fill the massive captaincy void created by the retirement of Joel Selwood...

'Not a decision we take lightly': Cats still mulling captaincy options
Cam Guthrie says whoever gets the nod to succeed Joel Selwood as Geelong skipper will continue to put a premium on stabilitywww.afl.com.au
Unless the decision is already made and it's only us who still don't know. But in recent seasons, we all knew it would be Joel. So a completely different situation.
I am pretty certain we will go with co captains. Not very Geelong? But danger and Stewart I believe the club could do it together. They want to reward danger (he really wants it) and of course he is good with media. But they also value stewart as more of a leader of the boys (not quite Selwood like but closer in terms of genuine care)I don't mind it at all if it is Danger. From the outside I'd see Stewart as a better fit, but I'm not in the 4 walls of the footy club.
What Thomas is saying is just ridiculous. As has been mentioned by others, we're trying to replace the greatest captain of all time. How on earth would that be fair to Max Holmes, SDK, or anyone else they see has the requisite qualities for the job? They're not ready and that's perfectly fine. As good as Joel was even he didn't take the role until age 24.
Danger and/or Stewart can hold the reins for a couple of years and we'll re-evaluate when the time comes.
Stewart is a long way better than "good"Look lets cut to the chase
Dangerfield is a bona fide champion player and has been absolutely sensational for the Cats for many years - and in full flite there is few better - Brownlow Medalist - and been an absloute joy to watch
Stewart is a good player - but as some respected posters like David The Cat - Partridge and there were a couple of others - they had the courage to post that when Stewart has a direct opponent - he can get a bit wobbly - nervous and make mistakes - its all great when he hasnt got an opponent
My summation - Patrick Dangerfield is a champion footballer - Tom Stewart is a good footballer
Forget the co captaincy - thats absolute rubbish - childish blooody kindergarten nonsense. Dangerfield has at this point thoroughly earnt the Geelong captaincy - the small knock on Dangers game is some disposals - who knows with the extra responsibility of the Geelong captaincy - he might not waste one disposal - and if that happens - then look out all 17 opposition teams
