I think Taranto is the perfect candidate. Plays in the middle and like Cotchin can set the standard for the rest to follow. Not only does he won the footy but defensively he is also very good not just in getting back to support the back line but also in terms of accountability through tackling and pressure acts.

With Baker, who much like Taranto can set standard for others to follow with his courage and competitiveness, as VC you have the perfect leadership group.

in a leadership position. I think he has stepped up over the last couple of years since the move to HB and showed how much this club means to him with his selflessness to play while injured late in the season when he didn't really need to.

As much as it would be great to see Martin be named captain I just don't see him being one to do all the media work, especially when it comes to fronting the cameras for mid week/pre game pressers. Post game interviews on the ground he doesn't really do either. To be honest I don't think he needs the title of captain to be seen as a leader, he has been doing it since the start in many ways.

I’m sorry but don’t see it off field. On field I get it but doesn’t have the presence when talking.
Best example is when being questioned by one of Cotchin’s girls he still couldn’t help but unconsciously adjust his wang, so inappropriate!!!

Put it to him the right way and I thinks he would come around. Yes, the media side is an issue, but it would be that final touch to his legacy, captain of the club, particularly if he could lift the cup before he bows out.
