David is going alright this year but i beleive he should step aside next year
at the game on the weekend Brock was patting him on the bum very easy choice for next captain.

I keep saying it, but I don't tihnk it will happen, but our leadership structure from next year should be:

Captain: Cameron Bruce
Vic Captains: Travis Johnstone, Brock McLean

Cameron is the guy who can do anything, on anyone, he can do whatever it takes in a game to win.

Travis is the real on field leader, and as Brock said, is the best footballer at the club. He knows the game better than lamost everyone else in the AFL, and he directs forwards where to lead, and brings his team mates into the game - a skill that's VITAL to a real leader. Were it up to me, he'd be captain.

Brock - Combines both of the above in a way, has a maturity about him and a competitive streak longer than the murray river - will make a great captain one day, but probably needs at least 2 or 3 more years/brownlows.

Captain: Cam Bruce
VC: Brad Green, Brock McLean

I'd like to see Trav as a leader but i'm afraid he will always be at an arms length when it comes to leadership. Greenie would be on the VC ticket because he looks to have more media ability.

I have always said that Cameron Bruce will become our next captain and it looks like it will eventuate in the near future, probably next year.

As for the vice captains, I think Brad Green is a good choice, but I don't think we should burden Brock McLean with it at this stage. Brad Miller has not handled it well (although McLean is far better than Miller) and I am not that keen on giving it to young blokes.

I would suggest...

Club Captain: Cameron Bruce
Vice Captain: Brad Green

If we were a basket case club - then i would give a kid a captaincy (or if he was Wayne Carey v2 minus the rooting).

Have it on strong authority that Brad Miller will captain our club in the future.

It is widely believed by the demon players that Johnstone is regarded as the best player down at the club. But that doesnt mean that he is leadership material. I believe he is however. I dont want Mclean's form to go down the drain if he took over as captain..so vice captain would be ideal. Bruce is a good player, but he was very close to leaving us a couple of years ago seeking higher pay. Mclean would never even consider leaving, such is his loyalty. Bruce and even Green are also considered to be relatively soft players compared to other captains like Voss, Riccuito and Vandenburg . This would have been perfect for Scott Thompson...oh well.

Brock for me too, but it won't be next year.

Bruce in the meantime, then Brock.
Would like to see Rivers, Green & Robbo as deputies next season, with Brock at VC.

Neita will step down, but will obviously still be a leader.

Brock strikes me as the sort of player that will relish the responsibility as captain. He's tough and hard, skilled and just needs another pre season to build his strength and fitness. He's a born leader as a Hird/Carey etc etc were. I say give him the captaincy. V/C's should be Green, Bruce, Rivers and Robbo.

Bruce if Neitz gives it up for 2007, otherwise give it to Brock who will probably get it even if Bruce takes the role next year.

McLean is a born leader, if only he didnt get injured all the time.

i also see mathew whelan as a great leader on the field. always controlling the backline and more than rivers does. rivers is younger so its ok and i wouldnt mind him in the leadership group but whelan always controls the backline and is one of the more consistant players at the club...
