Given that Boak is 50/50 to leave, and Trengove has turned to puss, I'd go with Simon Phillips.

But no, it has to be Brad. Hes the only choice.

Interesting the names that have been mentioned along the way!
Trengove NO WAY
Im not sure of Ebert atm.
Port are struggling big time to produce any real leaders.
The only one imo who reflects it on the field is J Schulz however im not sure if he has the character to define those qualities in other ways needed to be captain.
Dom must go, no on field class at all the captain must be able to lift the players with on field performance.

Having Ebert as captain of Port Adelaide would be a good thing.

Brett?

I would love to have Schulz as captain, but failing that, I would be happy with Brad or Boak.

Schulz... for me. He epitomises leadership for PAFC. Brad Ebert and Boak as VCs

Brad... needs to "serve" a bit more PAFC time before being handed the role. Plus his DE% needs improving otherwise he will be bagged as an on-field leader like Dom currently his for his decision making + disposal.

Boak... given the re-signing fiasco I don't think he deserves it TBH. If he was more decisive and re-signed almost immediately along with some dialog like "I love the club irrespective of who's coaching etc etc" then I would have been more inclined to give him the Captaincy. But because he's seemed uncertain, indulged in other offers, and loyalty initially seemed aligned with Primus... I'm less inclined to give him the role. Still, I could be convinced if he comes out with some very positive comments towards PAFC, his loyalty to PAFC (one club player etc) and reassures us that he will remain their... then perhaps he could be given the Captaincy.

For now though I think Schulz is just a perfect leader we need. What's more is he has genuine respect throughout the AFL for his work rate, attack on the ball, his marking and accuracy ability.

If Boak goes Hartlett is the only other player with the combination of heart, consistency and skill left who is not too old or too young.

Nicely said .... agree with all that.

Travis Boak - 64% (Down from 67% in 2011)
Bradley Ebert - 66% (Down from 69% in 2011)
Jay Schulz - 67% (Down from 69% in 2011)
Hamish Hartlett - 70% (Down from 71% in 2011)

Domenic Cassisi - 74% (Up from 65% in 2011)

They're all not great, none will contribute to who is chosen as captain next year.

Yeah, I know the stats :D... but the comment is more about media perception. Dom and Brad are often criticised by commentators/journos over their ball use. Boak less so (because he's Vic and was possibly heading back). Schulz never is because his courage, marking and accuracy fill commentators/journo's minds.

That's because he's been playing in defence and constantly kicking it backwards. Much easier to have a good DE that way.

Would be happy with either ebert or boak.....

Both lead by example on and off field...!!

The only reason boak puts me off a little, is I can see the media jumping all over us, saying boak stayed coz we offered him the captaincy...

Plus, ebert is port adelaide...:)
