If the team is that divided then that explains a lot. I for one would welcome Bomber Thompson in ASAP.

Time to flush out all the collingwood at collingwood.

Bucks, Rocca, Lockyer, burns, Pert

We need a fresh start with fresh ideas. the coaches simple can't get the players to do what they won't, weather it's a respect thing, communication thing or the players just are not good we will never know until we get a change.

I don't know who would be the clear leader to coach but Dew seems to have done it all without being head coach.

What is Leigh Tudor up to this year?

Who is available now that could be a fill in coach for rest of this year, it would allow a decent try before you buy period for us too.

Would Lyon be so bad for us? He may be out of a job at the end of the year.

He can get teams to gell and play good football. I don't care if its dour and boring, as long as its successful. Winning is never boring. Given our youth, he wouldn't need to do a runner for 6 or so years.:D

I've never seen the board so united about where we are at with Bucks as coach and what needs to be done. He's got a genuine injury excuse right now so I for one would be happy for him to be given the chance to get a decent team on the park and see how it goes. If there are no signs of improvement and we are being smashed weekly by round 12 then the call has to be made for the sake of the playing group.

I think he's been a really unlucky coach whose job has been a poisoned chalice from the start. He has always handles himself with great dignity and courage and he has given his heart and soul and he must really be hurting. Bad luck has really crueled his time as coach we should remember. But we live and die by our good/bad luck and I reckon Bucks knows now his time is up whatever he does till the end of the year (barring a miracle). Hopefully the end can be swift and as painless as possible..

I think you guys should give Stuart dew a chance. He was one I was hoping to get the gig with us (him and Bolton)

Liked the cut if his jib as a player and word is he knows a thing or 2 as a coach.

I feel Ratten could take his next club to a flag after getting experience in a professional outfit such as Hawthorn but seeing him at the pies would be a bitter pill to swallow.

I hope you guys sort your situation out fast as a competitive Collingwood would be good to have great clashes against if we keep improving too.

As a Carlton fan I enjoyed Buckley going backwards at first but a down and out Collingwood does more harm to the league than good.

I really like Dew and he would be my 1st choice at present.

Except it's not.

Well, at least on the one measurement that matters above all else...

Given where you guys are at and your list I think he could get a decent improvement very quickly.

Watching yesterday I saw some good plays and nice passages when you had momentum but it looked like the structure wasn't in place to take advantage of it and at times players ran to inconvenient positions. That looks like a coaching issue to me rather than an ability issue.

Buckley was unlucky as a player, and now is unlucky as a coach. That's just some people's lot in life.

I can't see having a full team as changing much. The last time we played well was in 2012, but Buckley cut all those players...

I wouldn't mind the club just going through a thorough and detailed interview process from a pool of professional and enthusiastic applicants and deciding from that rather than poaching someone going equally shit at another club (Lyon) or luring a proven but reluctant coach from retirement (Bomber Thompson). Collingwood have never done this in the modern era. Leigh Matthews fell into the job, we went the favourite son route with Tony Shaw, earmarked Mick Malthouse and no one else, went the favourite son route again with Buckley and here we are again in disarray.

People like Beveridge, Hinkley, Simpson and even Bolton have been terrific appointments by their respective clubs and have brought a sense of hope, flair and dramatic improvement almost immediately without coming with inflated reputations and price tags. Well schooled, experienced and talented tacticians and man managers are out there and it's the clubs job to find the best one instead of looking for the one messiah at the exclusion of everyone else.

^ this. We need to do our DD (for once) and get the best person for the job. Which is Stuart Dew...

Do it. Failing that ive seen suggestions of Bomber Thompson and Paul Roos also. Any one of these three would be excellent additions. Stay away from Dew, Ratten, or Tudor. You dont need any of these "untried" coaches, what you need is an experienced coach, who's had success ages ago (or in the case of RTB, not at all).

New coaches suck. You guys dont want to end up like us and Bolton. You guys want to be the next Freo, *, or Melbourne. Things are working well for them and you could be the next them! :thumbsu:
