Next Coach

If there is one thing that BF has taught me it is that it won't matter who the next coach is, plenty of people will be baying for his blood too. Seriously we could get Clarko and I guarantee that after the 2nd or 3rd "unexpected" loss people who be in here after his head.

Lyon has already failed, move on. There will be changes, better assistants, new coach. Where will you be in 1-2 years
when we fly up the ladder?
Same crap was thrown up at Bulldogs, Tigers, WC. Go to the WC board and read their previous take on Simpson.
Modern footy you can turn it around real quick, it all starts with new ideas, and watch the competition try to keep up.
I think you are missing the point being made. You think if you fail nothing should happen and you should throw bricks at anyone that has a different opinion. Don't be surprised then when the bricks are batted back.

If you looked carefully at indicators, including first year players being blooded gradually so we didn't have to play all at once, statistics on rankings for offence and defence from 2015 or the end of 2015 you could have give RTB a fail then, if not now. However he is given a 5 year contract extension in March 2016. So the reward for a "fail" then or now is renew the contract (did it have key performance indicators to be reached or other outs?) and keep the coach.

Experienced, effective assistants were well regarded enough to have different opinions left and were replaced with inexperienced apprentices who were learning under Ross and followed his system. Clubs you have mentioned all added experienced assistants to support the coach who gladly (obviously or not) gave up power and took on the experience to the betterment of the club. This does not look likely to happen at Freo with RTB unlikely to accept change and Freo board unlikely to put those sort of assistants in place.

New ideas, coach and you wonder if we would even line up the way we are now? For the life of me I can't understand
why they are trying to get midfield minutes into Harley. I would just have him play forward period.
Half forward has been our death sentence for years, we don't have a clue with some of the selection's.
I agree with this and am a Harley fan. I think the bar for him to come back through Peel was set extremely high last year and he got injured again. This year I can't figure out the how the playing minutes, sitting out a whole quarter after a warm up and positioning is really helping, and it's mentally tough when others who've been injured get managed in the team. Would have loved to see Harley managed in a forward pocket in the one's given opportunity.

I don't think I'm missing the point, after this year I expect the club to move heaven and earth to excel. But if you are
being truly honest, follow Freo you know we haven't had close to our best 22 on the park.
As for blaming it all on Ross? Others need to go before we even consider him.

I think we agree on more than we disagree. However it was your point about already having failed, (which I agree with) and moving on (and I don't agree with how the club has moved on from this in the last three years.).

Oh the difference an on fire kpf makes to the team (On ya Cox). A team of kids beating last year's GF runner up and seasons highest scoring team (with plenty of margin to spare),.

But "damn you Ross" for something... today just proved yet again that yo don't play ya do yoof, develop them, kick a winning score, shot jfk...

We're still going to lose most of the rest of the season. But for a rebuild, how often did Carlton, Brisbane, Melbourne etc get wins against anyone other than their rival for the wooden spoon.

Premature until we see the entire seasons averages... At the start of the season my hopes for progress were an extra goal for and 1 goal less against. we're the same for (73 points) and 88 against (was 98). Some consistent (and good) results from tall forwards would have helped that, but it was not to be, but if we can start to get functioning tall timber for the rest of the season it will give us a glimpse (irrespective of coach) of what this young team can be in the years to come.

A week is a long time in footy.

There are too many theatre goers around footy today, good time charlies is another name for them. They only support when the team is winning !!.

Building a footy team takes time, it can be bumpy at times, but hey I just love watching the jigsaw pieces come together.

Lyon is transitioning the team, he sure as hell is not sitting on his hands, he is moving players in and out of the tea.

Having thought about it a little, I am going to answer my own question to some extent. Ed is the only player I can think of who is in career best form or has clearly developed from last year. Tabs also looked better in his few games at the start of the year. Ethan Hughes and Nyhuis can’t get a game in a team that is struggling, Cam has been dropped. Maybe Duman has improved, not sure. Luke Ryan is great, not sure that he is better now than after he hit his straps last year. I am a Brennan Cox fan, but have not seen more from him this year than last.

If individual development is a measure, it is not going too well.
I am eating my words about Brennan, and loving every minute of it.

Yeah he committed yesterday, what a useless comment..
It's good isn't it... those selections of jones and giro have finally meant were serious about this rebuild..,
My other favourite one is "see what happens when we play attacking footy"- apart from the fact we only scorerd 71 points this notion that when we win = attacking footy and when we lose = defensive footy is lol worthy

And we played one behind the ball and a loose in the back half. ;) When we win none of the brick tossers seems to notice but when we lose its a defensive hell and sack every one for the shitty non existent game plan.

Lot of people playing the 'I told you so' game here. Great victory and the kids played amazing.

I've said my fair share (and ultimately still reckon Ross/the team deserve some criticism for bringing us down to this point) but there are undeniable green shoots. That was one of the most exciting games I've been to in a while.

Keep the commitment to the rebuild and I reckon I'm happy now to ride the bumps, give it all some time and see if we can break out of the bottom 6 next year.

Crows kick 9.14 and Salim Malik is back in here telling everyone Ross Lyon is a genius.

Predictable as clockwork.

Think we were very, very lucky to get the win personally. We only kicked one in the last and Adelaide had 5-6 misses on goal at the end there that easily could have gone the other way.

Don't think that's really the point though. We basically won off the back of our youngsters which at least for me gives you some hope going forwards that Ross can develop them.

Don't bullshit, you can't help yourself. I haven't mentioned Lyon . If there was a ban for making shit up you would be in the permanent red. Why do you do it, is your lack of self esteem that low that you need to bullshit to make yourself seem relevant on here.

The win was good reward for the players but secondary. If we played the exact same way and Adelaide convert another goal or two of the chances they had I think most of us would be almost as ecstatic (nothing beats a win in the end). Personally, the joy from the game yesterday was several young players showing what they could be and everyone on the team recognising they need to step up without our Captain. The effort and desire to contest was the best I can remember for years
