All three way off a flag. The difference is Essendon and Carlton have finally come round to the fact that a rebuild is required.

Richmond still pushing for that first finals win, as evidenced by trading out first-rounders for the likes of Yarran.

Ffs get ur facts straight  we KEPT our first rounder do some research before posting utter garbage, fyi we used our first round pic (15) on Daniel rioli, on Yarran we used a 2nd round pic 19, yarran 25 years old has plenty of good footy ahead of him...

So you have identified 6 players, the rest are dead set average, and you reckon you don't need a rebuild?

I'd throw is B.Ellis, McIntosh, Grimes, Vlaustin and some youth with plenty of potential including Yarran, C.Ellis, Rioli, Menadue and even McBean (most VFL goals kicked 2015). So we don't need a complete rebuild but rather give experience to our youth and find some talent via the trade/draft.

No team will have a list of complete champions (unless your GWS!) so you are always going to have tiers of ability. We have a strong upper tier but a weak lower. We need more depth which is what is being exposed atm and dragging our results down.

Shhhhh some posters dont wanna hear the truth, Halftimehero says our youth is next to nothing lmfaooo we've recruited 11 youngsters in the last 2 years between 17-19 years old in the ND and Rookie drafts and 3 mature aged 22/23 yrs old...
Also FlowersByIrene says Richmond need a complete rebuild, whats he smoking, our rebuild started 5-6 years ago and we've build up our main core but we we do need a mini rebuild admittingly 1-2 years down, it can turn very easily on the upwards spiral!
Thats the problem ..your main core just isn't up to it ..and your kids aren't proven ..big problems at Punt road

And thank you for that completely unsubstantiated and unfounded opinion :drunk:. Are you basing your judgement on this season or last? On the last three years or 35?

Carlton are so far off it. They have recruited well in the last two years but your plethora of first draft picks have only given you average toilers at best. Murphy, Gibbs and Kruezer should be leading you towards a premiership by now but you have barely scrapped off the bottom of the ladder in recent years with them leading the way. I think you have years of pain still ahead.

All of the above. 30+ years of nothing and then losing 3 finals in a row. Big, big problems down at Richmond. Even the so called stars in your senior list are mentally suspect and that's a big issue ATM.

Carlton and Essendon's young players look higher quality than Richmond's, none of them have an old list, it isn't youth the Tigers need it's quality. If the roll the dice and get a bounty of players like Geelong have then they are a chance again. That or they go the other way and go the long term rebuild via youth. Carlton and Essendon are looking to do a fairly balanced rebuild. Essendon failed with their attempts to top up with older talented discards. Both are trying to bring in youth while maintaining quality mature players to lead the way. This could easily turn on it's head, Really gun drafting, father son picks or some real aggressive recruiting by either of these sides could put them up the top within the next three seasons.

Indications are that they will be aggressive at the trade table again this year.

Dude forget bout compo pics and academy etc round 1 normally ends at pic 18 surely u know that as theirs 18 teams but with compo pics it pushes it out, it has been stated in the papers that pic 19 is end of first round PERIOD

Except you don't forget about those things and pick 19 which you originally traded to Carlton was a first round pick, PERIOD

Here is the original draft order, the 1 in the first column indicates which round it is

Why isnt it included straight after pic 18 cause round one ends at pic 18, then theirs pic 19 which comes after round 1 (end of first round pic) thats why its separated then round 2 starts.
U know what u are baiting cause deep down u understand what ive written above is actual fact (straight from AFL link below)
