El Souki played a larger split in his deeper forward role this week and responded with a big bag of goals that kept his team in the contest. Unfortunately, the broadcast was a bit of a mess, and we lost the first quarter and a half including 2 of his 6 goals.

The best we can hope for is that he falls outside the first round and use a couple of second rounders to match a bid.

You can match bids in the top 20 again now, but it seems likely that you'll need more and higher picks to match with.

Which is fine. I'm not complaining about the fact that we get him at any discount, even if the discount is vastly less than what we matched Jamarra, or the "discount" of the fact that we were able to develop the first few years of Buku's career with an additional list spot.

There's every chance that we rate El Souki as a top 5 player. The fact that the rules allow us to be reactive for the knowledge of when another club rates him is the advantage too. If we had the live pick 5 and say pick 15, we'd take him with pick 5, knowing that he might not last to 10. However, we take take pick 5 on a different player (who we rate as the 6th best), a club bids on him with pick 12, we match with pick 15+30 or whatever. We got our 5th and 6th preference for the cost of 5+15+30, not our 5th and 15th preference.
