Jesus that seems like a lot. Is there a limit to the amount of NGA prospects you can have? Or do teams really scatter-shot this process and hope to find a few gems?

There is a limit to players but mainly on how much club invest in their program
Since they cover travel, training and school programs

Most clubs will have 2-3 players per age bracket

There’s also growing excitement around exciting GWV Rebels defender Luamon Lual, who got better with every champs game he played and finished on a high with a spectacular performance against Vic Metro, including a breathtaking third-quarter goal. A speedy and balanced 181cm prospect who provides explosive run off half-back yet is just as adept defending one-on-one, Lual looms as an ideal mid-sized backman for AFL clubs.

The Western Bulldogs, who are linked to Lual via their Next Generation Academy, are hoping that club will be them. But they’ll only be able to match a bid on him if it comes within the top 40 picks — and considering the post-champs hype around Lual from clubs, it seems highly unlikely he’ll still be on the board by then

Geez you'd think they would proof read their articles first. The way they worded it is the complete opposite to how it actually is. We're only able to match bids after the top 40, not within.

Can those in the know have a stab at the top 10 picks in order they think they will be drafted, for those ignorant of the draft prospects. Every time I read something, apparently that player is going top 10.

Depends on who has the picks but for a quick guess
For this I'll say bulldogs trade our first rounders for gold coast pick (they will trade it to someone)
  1. West Coast Harley Ried
  2. Gold Coast match bid Jed Walters
  3. North Melbourne Zane Duursma
  4. Hawthorn Daniel Curtain
  5. Melbourne Nick Watson
  6. Gold Coast match bid Ethan Read
  7. Sydney Mitchell Edwards
  8. Bulldogs Colby McKercher
  9. Adelaide Ryley Sanders
  10. GWS Nate Caddy
  11. Carlton Connor O'Sullivan
  12. GWS Archer Reid

Imagine how salty North will be when Duursma follows JHF to Port

I reckon Melbourne would go a tall forward and GWS a mid given they drafted Cadman. Both in a position to pick up a need.

I’d love McKercher to fall to us. Couldn’t care less his Tasmanian. If his even average the tazzy side will pay him a serious wage to bring him across which will mean you’re almost guaranteed a good return in draft compensation. Tassy side will pay overs for all their players.

Melbourne also have Jefferson and Van Rooyan Developing so doubt they take a tall unless they get Curtain or go Earlier for O'Sullivan.

Wilson seems ideal for GWS, although their pick might be a bit of a reach. Melbourne don’t seem like they have any major pressing needs so would probably be entirely best available. That, or they pull the trigger early on Mitch Edwards considering they just lost Jackson

Melbourne apparently one of the teams that are interested in packaging for Reid. Have a feeling it points to them going for a MID first, regardless if they keep all their picks or not.

Is keighton matofai-forbes not eligible?
Haven't got confirmation on that one

Who was the young fella Marra introduced as his brother when he was talking to the flog BT, said he was on the Dogs NGA also. Can't find the video now.

He'd be a few years away, think he was 12 - 14.

What’s the chances of Kobe choosing to nominate us instead of Hawks as F/S?

Sent from my iPhone using BigFooty.com
Kobe has the chance to be a top 5 talent so unless the NGA rules change or we are rebuilding
Don't think we will get him

With trading of future picks

AFL should scrap the 4 year two first rule and open up the Academy, NGA and Father-Son programs to be full bidding

Some clubs don't even had massive impact on some father-sons and get secure bids while clubs put 5-6 years in an NGA player and can't even draft them

So that’s his only brother? I was thinking Marra had a little brother that wasn’t too far off but could be mistaken.

Hopefully we keep him under wraps, I desperately want first dibs at all future Ugle-Hagens 😂 what a talent

Honestly the AFL needs to make a call either way, this half assed fence sitting approach is a joke.

Either option A) make all academies (NGA & Northern states) league run with ALL players going into the open pool, or option B) just embrace it and let all clubs have full access to their academy players BUT fix the system so ALL clubs have to pay a fair price to match a bid, mainly fix the point system (add value to top picks, remove lots of value from lower picks)

It’s not even that hard, you just remove the 20% discount for F/S (maybe keep it for NGA to encourage the programs) and do a reset of the points index.

The points index should be based on actual pick only trades over the last 5 years, not based on salary cap data between 1995-2010 when clubs didn’t even have full time recruiting staff and junior games were not filmed.
