If he walks to port, and he’s a great player, 2first rounders thank you..

But really, he’s at Sturt now, his old man might have played for Port decades ago but that doesn’t mean he, or his parents, desperately want him to go to port to th point where that would be their plan.. has his old man even had any association with port since he left?..

For all we know.. the young fella could be a crows fan..
Connor Rozee's father Robert played for the Panthers in Adelaide after playing for South Augusta in the Spencer Gulf League, Connor's at the Roosters because Pt. Augusta is their zone. Borlase likely lives in the Sturt zone.

93 seems right, but this video could be all confirmation bias?

watched a bit of that video

Troy Bond playing for Port as 19 year old - The commentary mention that he has been drafted by Carlton... but here he was playing a pre-season game in the SANFL

what was the deal? why was he still in Adelaide?

He obviously did get to Carlton at some stage but was that common back then to get drafted but stay playing for your original club?

Genuine question. Why do crows fans think they should have had access to the son of a West Australian footballer who never donned a crows guernsey?

The only stake you had on him was the arbitrary splitting of sanfl clubs if I’m not mistaken.

Not sure Crows fans are saying we should have access. The rules provide us with access.

Because we are a true champion of diversity in sport.

How can we turn our back on a young lad who walks like an ............

David Mackay of his era

Low talent plodder who survived on the barnacles of the bottom of the team. Just kept on plugging away

More of an irritant than DMAC though
“Low talent plodder” may be a tad harsh but I agree not many of his ilk play 300+

He was serviceable in both GF wins and was up as a leading possession getter in 99 along with names like Harvey, Grant, Carey, King, Pickett, Simpson and Bell..

Aside from not getting a gun footballer in Gibbs cheap, I tend to think the concept of getting him as F/S was flawed and it was probably the proper outcome in the context of the concept of the F/S rule.

F/S is about a kid playing in the jumper his dad played in. Ross Gibbs never wore a Crows jumper. I have always felt giving SANFL clubs F/S priority for us and the Power as odd. It should just be 100 games for that club and over time F/S Players will come. As is starting to happen for us now.

This is a very real example of how the AFL believe Port were formed in 1997. Jono Brown's old man played something like 52 games for Fitzroy in the VFL. The Lions got him due to the Bears/Lions merger. Bjs old man never played for the new Brisbane Lions FC. Logically the same rules should flow to Port. If the AFL were consistent and truly believed Port as the old SANFL club James Borlase would be a F/S candidate for you guys.

as much as I would love the Crows to have priority access to a potential gun (already u/15 all australian - and his genetics! Mum a chamption netballer as well as his old man being a Port champion) it is actually ridiculous that he doesn't qualify F/S for Port Adelaide

Brett Ebert not being technically F/S eligible shows how broke the system really is (though this one ended ok because no one realised that he wasn't eligibile)

Yeah nah. It was ridiculous that Chad and Kane didnt qualify as Crows players yet they ended up at Port. Stiff shit to Port over James.

Yeah nah.

We got stuck with the split sanfl rule to make us even with the crows.

If the crows didn’t exist and we came into the league do you believe we would have been given access to just port 100 gamers or sanfl clubs 200 gamers?

It would have been port.

I’m unsure what basis you would have had claim to them?

I heard there was a coach f/s rule at the time that they didn’t qualify for and no such rule exists now. Is that correct?

And stupidly no one picked up that Adelaide were disadvantaged by 1 year. The crows eligible father had to play their games before they entered the comp and Freo WCE and Port could count the first year they were in the comp that the fathers games in the local league counted ie Eagles 1987 was first year but 1987 WAFL games counted, Freo 1995 and Port 1997. The Crows couldn't count 1991 SANFL games for their potential fathers.

It was a ****en farce along with the SANFL not realising they counted night series/preseason games in their totals and the WAFL and VFL didn't.

I realise none of it makes any logical sense. But going back 10 years ago this particular anomaly made absolutely no ****ing sense.

Back then it was reasonably common for players not to go interstate the first year they were drafted. A Bit Dangerfieldesque

Because we’re the team for all South (and western) Australians!

Which is kind of my point.

The AFL see you guys exactly the same as us. Composite club formed in the 1990s. Your F/S eligibility reflects this.

You’re seeing what you wanna see.

If the crows didn’t exist would port have been given the current rule or the 100 game access to port players?
