About a quarter of the players likely to be picked in this year's AFL national draft could be taken by clubs with priority access and not freely available to all.More than 20 players likely to be taken in the draft will come from Next Generation Academies (NGAs), are father-son prospects or part of the northern club academies. The dramatic rise in the number of players tied to clubs through various academies has some clubs concerned that NGAs, designed to encourage clubs to invest in finding and developing young footballers from indigenous or multicultural non-traditional football backgrounds, are morphing into de facto zones.
"We got through the compromised drafts of the expansion clubs but the draft is now more compromised than ever," one recruiter said.
Fairfax Media has been told that clubs routinely ask about the backgrounds of every player on TAC Cup lists, and so already in the pathway program, to determine whether they fill the criteria for one of the academies and therefore under the club's priority access.
It was intended that the system encourages clubs to seek and find players under-represented and
Keep an Eye out for Daniel Sladojevic from South Adeliade, an underage player for this years under18's In our NGA and eligible for 2019 draft. So what are we looking at here..
Mihail this year

His choice is join our Academy and get.elite training and guidance at a young age.
Or go into the draft with the possibility of ending up anywhere.
By 2020 Port could be in contention for the wooden spoon as their players age and Kenny still there. Making the draft a good option for him.
Or he could discover girls. Or boys not that there is anything wrong with it.
So I wouldn't be popping champagne corks now about getting him.

Kid in the middle is son of former Crows player and Sturt legend Matthew Powell.A pic of the young Borlase lad below... it was on the port board... they are taking it pretty hard over there, the worlds against them... again.
Almost feel a tiny bit sorry for them... almost. Actually.. nup.. I don’t.
Tall lad on the right.. looks like his old man... same nose... also looks tall (depends on how tall the other two lads are of course) and nice broad shoulders (his mum wouldn’t have had fun pushing him out!).. anyone know what position(s) he plays?..

Port logic.. why can’t we have Powell?Kid in the middle is son of former Crows player and Sturt legend Matthew Powell.
He played really well in the U16 Champs last year as well. Kicked 5 goals in one match from memory. Also note our NGA player Daniel Sladojevic has been picked as an under ager for the SA U18s team.
Appears to have ripped the SANFL U16s comp a new one
So going by that the whole SA zone thing was beat up. They are talking about Aboriginal kids in SA, not all kids. And this makes sense because Vic clubs are allowed to put Aboriginal kids in their NGAs even if they are from Metro areas, while SA and WA clubs cannot. Hell, even Port Lincoln is considered out of bounds for us.AFL draft pool drained by academies

I thought the NGAs were tied to the postcode the player lived in and not what team he played for? I dont think the NGA areas match the SANFL zone areas? Also, watch the shit fly if he is a top player As South is in Ports NGA Zone,
How come he is in our NGA?Also, watch the shit fly if he is a top player As South is in Ports NGA Zone,
Crows have Centrals, Norths, Sturt and Glenelg metro zone area. not too sure about the postcodes.I thought the NGAs were tied to the postcode the player lived in and not what team he played for? I dont think the NGA areas match the SANFL zone areas?
Matty Powell 's son? He's not.How come he is in our NGA?
No that Slobodan Milosevic guyMatty Powell 's son? He's not.
Could well be. I know that Port doesnt have an SANFL zone now,. I guess if he is in our NGA the AFL had to tick it off. And you can be sure the Smears would have challanged it to the AFL like they have with James.Crows have Centrals, Norths, Sturt and Glenelg metro zone area. not too sure about the postcodes.
But I believe they sign up Daniel Sladojevic from basketball,
Anyway it will be fun watching the Port Melts because he improving every game.
Sorry. This discussion lost me. Sorry. No that Slobadan Milosevic guy
Kid from South
Most likely Port failure to recognise basketball talent a couple of years ago. before he played football seriously. Think he a Scotch College boy,How come he is in our NGA?

They would bid on him and we would have to pay through the nose!
What are the odds that he'll choose to be part of our academy though? Port might miss out but doesn't mean we'll get him.
Why wouldn’t he want to be part of the adelaide academy?.. he’d be absolutely stupid not to want to be part of it even if he didn’t really like the crows because it’s the only AFL team academy he can join and so it’s the best place he’ll be offered a chance to be developed by an AFL club at such a young age.Wondering that myself. If he wants to stay in Adelaide enough he will, but there's a chance that he'd prefer to spend 2 years elsewhere before returning home.
