But we have international stars like Corey Andersen, Paul Hose, Zahar Khan and Joe Clarke

The only bloke with any sort of international superstardom this year is Quinton De utensil. Genuinely laughable
We've only ever had a handful of stars at one time, though. For every Chris Gayle, there's been two Michael Carberrys and three Yasir Arafats.

It's not the IPL, and it's disingenuous to criticise it because there's "not enough stars".

It is a domestic cricket competition, and you need to adjust your expectations accordingly.

Kurtis Patterson - Remember him? Debuted the same season as Head and was better in my estimation, and the pick of the bunch (including Labuschagne). He is 30 at the moment so he may be more a short than medium term option, but if he can pull it together for a two or three seasons then it is worth giving him a spot. And yes, I realise he has had some rough years. This is a selection based on technique and application, and the other side of the coin as to why Bancroft and Harris should never play again.

Been dropped from NSW reckon he’s finished.

The most important thing clearly is for him to retain his record for “highest test average (no qualification)”

Arafat was the most popular Scorcher for a long while there.

Can you tell the commentators and networks this ?

someone should tell the TV networks they dramatically overpaid for the broadcast rights then and not to do it again.

Broadcasters are perfectly aware of it now. There was a shit fight with Channel Seven over the Australian test players that was resolved and they bid again, so clearly they didn't get too offended.

The only people who don't understand are those who just take potshots at every opportunity.

WA nailed it from day one, imo. Bring in overseas players based on how they'll help the Scorchers win the tournament, not how famous they are. And use BBL exposure to help develop young WA players at the same time, give them experience for the benefit of the state's overall cricket program.

is Peake the son of former Vic 'Clinton'?
Yep. Played one season with Dad in the Geelong Div 1 during covid before being fastracked towards the Premier First XI.

Im all aboard the McSweeney train. Looks a genuine top/middle order player that can hold down an end and dig in. Obsiouly still fairly raw but finally putting it all together this year after moving from Queensland to South Australia after a stellar district year.

As some have posted, just need Green to fulfil his potential because the bloke will average 50 at FC level for the next decade. Just need him to get to 40+ at test level

Adam White has his say:

Thanks, good read. I wish they would stop pushing this fiction that Morris bowls 150 consistently. He has never bowled anything anywhere near 150 from watching him in the BBL. Agree he is the best young bowling prospect we have though (Jhye with an asterisk there).

He's been clocked at 150+ on many occasions, but has said he is deliberately bowling slower in the BBL to improve his control.

Has the gears to flick through when he needs to too, the 100 in the shield a few months back when he dug in for 72 to hold off a collapse then flicked the switch to go from 72 to 100 in 6 or 7 balls when batting with the tail was pretty special. Does tend to get a lot of starts without going really big, but I think in time he will start to post big scores pretty regularly. Looks a good one.

Nathan McSweeney is comfortably the best prospect we have had in quite some time. Anyone that has watched him bat in the shield the last couple years will already know this, he isn't been accelerated in to these Aus A/Pm's XI captaincy roles for no reason. He will be a superstar and potentially captain the national side in 4-5 years time, and that is a hill I am prepared to die on.

Kerry O'Keefe also declared Jason Sangha to be the next Ponting and considered Jake Carder a test bolter a few years ago

Jason Sangha was dominating the youth ranks, I actually think he'd be well served moving to South Australia for the more batsmen friendly conditions

25 year old though, be good if a 20 year old burst onto the scene and dominated.

25 is still young in cricketing terms.

It is, Michael Hussey didn't get a go until 30 year old and he just got put into the Hall of Fame, time will tell if McSweeney comes good, I personally think they need to make these Shield pitches alot more batsmen friendly, sides are getting rolled for sub 150 or 200 often atm.

Fans melt whenever that happens.

Seems to have been discarded from the selectors thoughts.
Probably an unfortunate victim of the other prospects doing so well in India. Had a solid tour of Sri Lanka (8 wickets at an average of 24 from 3 innings) and hasn't even been in the conversation to be selected since. He did struggle in Pakistan, but those weren't great wickets to debut on as a bowler at all.
