Would Renshaw and Konstas be our most likely opening pair post-Khawaja retirement?

Seems like we have solid youngsters and depth coming through batting-wise.

Are we still searching for new blood to fill the big shoes of Cummins, Starc and Hazlewood when they eventually retire? (Noting Boland is also old)

I don't see that Renshaw should have a line ruled through him. He, like Patterson, has improved as he has matured.

Renshaw seems to have become a more rounded a free flowing player as his limited overs game has improved.

Callum Vidler had alot of excitement for him after the U19 world cup. Not sure what has happened to him though.

O’Neill would have to be subject to the same risks that Boland was and I can’t see them providing green seamers

That is the refrain on O'Neill. However he still keeps taking wickets.

Callum Vidler had alot of excitement for him after the U19 world cup. Not sure what has happened to him though.

Won't be surprised if he gets a game or 2 before the end of the season, he was injured in the first half of the season.

Possibly. But the Queensland bowling attack is pretty strong. Might be difficult to break into.

They rotated the quicks a fair bit in the first half of the season, Stek and Straker both got rotated in and out with guys like Whitney getting games too. Bartlett is back now too which makes it a bit more difficult. Possibly more likely to play in the One Day matches

Pace battery around the country is strong.

He has been injured a fair bit. Bowling at 145 ks plus when 19 will do that.

Hunt has returned to earlier form this season. McSweeney, Green, Philippe, Hardie all look like good middle order or keeper candidates.

In terms of Quicks, nobody looks express apart from Richardson and Morris, both with their injury issues. Spencer Johnson (who the jury is still out on) the only leftie coming through. Elliott potentially a hit the deck hard high 130's candidate

Haskett has looked reasonably promising in his handful of FC games taking 20 wickets at 24, doesn't have the pace of a Johnson or Starc but is still young

Straker moved to Qld from NSW at the start of the season.

Big miss from NSW this one. The attack they had the other day of Jacobs, Hatcher and Pawson was incredibly weak. Bird on his last legs and I assume Tremain is injured at the moment.

He has just tried to smack Swepson and has gone down with hamstring or calf cramp.

Lachie Hearne is starting to put some scores together relatively consistently. 60 ball 100 against the England Lions last month, 60 odd in the shield match just gone by and a ton in the One Day Cup today. Only just turned 24 so might be one to keep an eye on over the next few years.

Beardman took 4-46 off 10 playing for WA today as well.

Pretty impressive that in the last week, and almost 12 months to the day, 7 of the 11 who were in the U19 WC final side have played state cricket in either shield or one day.

Add to that that they’re all contributing as well is a good sign for the future.

9 of the 11 have played if we include the BBL too with Weibgen and Peake getting some game time there. Only Harjas Singh and Ryan Hicks to go. Hicks did get a run with the CAXI side against the England Lions last month and went alright.

Probably should have also included Aidan O’Connor as well, who didn’t play in the final but was in the squad and also made his shield debut this week & scored a half century as well!
