Aussie squad named for U19 world cup. Always exciting, hopefully this cup gives us as many players to talk about as last time. Seems like a strong batting core, but its mostly unknowns for me, especially the bowlers.

Australia squad:
Oliver Peake (c),
Kasey Barton,
Naden Cooray,
Jayden Draper,
Steven Hogan,
Thomas Hogan,
Ben Gordon,
John James,
Charles Lachmund,
Alex Lee Young,
Will Malajczuk,
Nitesh Samuel,
Hayden Schiller,
Aryan Sharma,
William Taylor
A few WA boys that I've seen a lot of in Simon Budge and Zed Hollick will be very disappointed after long seeming destined to make the squad. But they've learnt a good lesson, having only themselves to blame after not performing to their level at the champs.

Yeah I was a little surprised not to see Budge. Lincoln Hobbs too is one that has some wraps on him before the champs so no doubt he is disappointed too.

really disappointed Archie Flynn didnt make the squad, he an underager? only explanation I can see
Flynn is not an underager I believe but he is definitely stiff, also Shaun Smith doesn't always get to play against great opposition at home in Country NSW but has proven himself at multiple carnivals to be a prolific scorer. Barbulovic (SA) seems very talented but he's an U17 (maybe U16 even I've heard) and could've been an inclusion for experience à la Peake at the previous WC.

Maybe Anderson should go to another state? Its tough one for the states
Its tuff being a promising cricketer in my state period. Basicly we have crap selectors that would rather hang onto a has been than promote a talented 20-25 yr old. Sam Konstas the exception. If we lose Anderson or any of those others I posted to another state, I will wash my hands of this lot for good.
Straker playing so much FC at QLD
From my state too, a prime example of lack of interest in these pathways boys I alluded to, so Qld pounced and threw in into the deep end, bypassing rookies. Thankfully Anderson was the same yr as Straker and he was at least given a rookie contract. Is now in his second rookie yr.

Barbulovic did play under 15s for SA last year but not sure if that's different age qualification to the normal stuff. Didn't play under 14's in 23/24.

He hit a 183 in first grade for SACA 19's last year, fair effort if he was only 15! Looking like one of SA's best batting prospects in a while.
