So South Australia win the under 19 championships after a really underwhelming carnival from a lot of states.

Nitesh Samuel (NSW) leads al run getters with 364 at 91.5

Jacques Van Niekerk (7.62) and Charlie LAchmund (12.62) lead all wicket takers with 13.

NSW keeper Alex Lee -Young the standout 'fielder' with 14 catches and a stumping, next best was 9

From a Victorian point of view, Archie Flynn (4th, 271 runs at 54) probably makes it into the Aus trials

Does O'Neil have another gear to go to?

Ryan Harris was a fringe medium fast bowler for quite a few years (125-130km/hr) before getting much fitter, stronger and tweaking his action. Added 10+km/hr and played test cricket

Anyone know much about this guy? Doesn't yet have a Cricinfo page as far as I can tell, so hasn't played at national or professional level yet. Pretty great figures though and its a legit award to win. Its hard to find all the previous winners. Last few winners are Simon Budge, Aiden O'connor, Konstas. And going back a bit (according to an article I found) includes Cam Green, Head, Ussie, Waugh, Ian Healy and Gilly.

I suppose we will get a better understanding of where all these guys are at once the u19 WC squad gets announced, which should be somewhat soon now champs are over.

Sound mail suggests CA funding cutbacks mean the end of Vic & NSW Country going forward
Probably not the worst thing

Has helped the likes of SA be competitive at these carnivals but dilutes the overall standard

Hayden Barbulovic, left handed opener from SA our most impressive batter imho

And left arm quick Jarrah Reidy (from Port Lincoln originally) goes alright. Reminds me a bit of Campbell Thompson, another left armer who's coming through and looking ok.

Taite Brook, an U17 batter who got picked for this, also looks a decent player

My mail man says there is a young quick in your crew who was significantly faster than anyone else VC had faced who bowled in the middle overs

Reidy almost certain to be fast tracked then

Think Barbulovic is an under 17 as well but could be wrong. Some very nice shots in the highlights package of the final.

Reidy looks good, Trent Boult like action.

Finished as an awesome bowler. He walks into any post-2007 Australian team. Told he only had a finite number of balls left in him by a doctor, he had his career ended because he had no cartilage left and his bones were grinding together. Total respect for the man putting his body through that torment for Australia.

Bowled himself into the ground in SA getting us a series win and that was basically him done 😢
