10 fc matches averages 26 with bat. 22 this season

I don't think anyone thinks he should be playing for the Aussie test team anytime soon. He lifts for the moment which is a great sign for a kid, Aussie A team he did well, big Bash, world cup the kid is a winner. Smith wants to retire at the USA world cup this kid will be ready to replace him at the end of 2027 fingers crossed

Steve Smith is greatest Australian batsman of my lifetime and I'm not young. Earmarking a player who hasn't done anything as Smith's replacement in two years is..um, out there..

what do you mean hasn't done anything? Warner got picked off 20/20 form. Smith wasn't even picked as a batsman till 26. This kid has done plenty v very good players in big moments and has done well at 50 over cricket which you over looked.

I still think Dixon is a better player

Peake has played 7 one day matches for 143 runs, along with 6 t20's. Warner had 856 fc runs at 47 before debut including international success. About five posters here saying Peake's the next big thing like he's banging door. He's way off being in conversation.

I guarantee you he’s much closer than what you think

the hype is real mate. No one’s stupid enough to assume he’s gonna just come in and give the same output as Smith but he is 100% the best chance of it. He will be in the side very soon. Much better for his age than Konstas or Connolly were.

No. Konstas had centuries in shield and against Indians. By no objective measure is Peake better than Konstas.

He's literally not. Konstas averages 36 in shield cricket with 3 centuries. Peake 25 with no centuries.

Peake is 19 and the technique, temperament and raw skills are quite evident.

Konstas had the raw skills, the confidence and the luck of being in the right place at the right time, which resulted in his debut.

At their ages, the amount of overall runs doesn't mean anywhere near as much as it currently does for blokes like Weatherald and Renshaw.

McSweeney falls somewhere in the middle.

If my aunty had wheels..

Konstas scored 800 shield runs at 40. Peake same age has 200 at 22. Not luck. Peake has done shi..

Ricky Ponting has him in his forecasted next Ashes squad, doesn’t have Konstas.

Hopefully Peake can have a good next 10-11 Shield seasons and we can debut him around 30 years old when cricketers come good at Test level.

We might get to see Dixon on Saturday night in the derby rematch with a now vacant spot in the Gades

Jewell would be the other option - be interesting to see which way we go

Who is out??

Peake - flew out from Perth for the U19 WC following last nights match

I’m guessing he’s headed to Namibia where our first game will be played next week, 16th

Not a bad way to finish your BBL season with a match winning 6 off the last ball

Goddamn it. Just when I actually had some excitement about the Gades chances for the first time in years haha.

Super frustrating, but getting to captain your country, even at U19 level is a great honour for the youngster
