Movie Next James Bond?

I've heard names like Tom Hardy and James Norton touted. Having just watched the brilliant series, 'The night Manager', look no further than Tom Hiddlestone. Cool, unflappable.

Wait for it. You know its coming. The politically correct world has gone made.

Jane Bond.

I'll be so mad lol. But at the same time I'm confident they won't do it.

I'm all for POC/women to get get their own movies and roles. But not every existing IP needs to be flipped..

Barbara Broccoli has already ruled that out.

That said, the rights are up for sale, a 'shared universe' is on the offing, so a TV show with a female Bond isn't out of the realms of possibility. And really, who cares, the theory that Bond was a code name rather than an actual name was perfectly good. I couldn't care less if Bond was white, black or female, as long as the film was good.

I agree with BB's point that re-writing male characters as female is kind of lazy.

Come up with something new. Let's encourage female writers to come up with their own characters and stories rather than just sitting on the shoulders of their male counterparts.

Rewriting the same character 25 times could equally be viewed as lazy. If it's a spin-off show (another agent set within the same universe), I don't really see the issue, as it would be up to the writers to ensure the character is fresh and interesting. I mean, we can absolutely question the creativity of Hollywood and it's propensity to bank on established characters and properties rather than invest in new creations, but that's the world we live in.

Yeah wouldn't work, he looks too similar to the guy that plays Q
Don’t really agree with that though I see where you’re coming from. I hope Craig’s efforts don’t see them feel the need to cast another ‘brute’ for the next Bond.

Strange franchise. Big fans think it's incredible. Rest know it's Vin Diesel action movies with a veneer of British sophistication instead of whatever Vin Diesel is.

Haven't watched a new one since The World is Not Enough (1999). Didn't mind the Roger Moore movies when Channel 10 showed them a lot around 2002.

Hopefully cast a black British actor to piss off racists who don't bat an eyelid at Pierce Brosnan and George Lazenby.

I'm not sure why a studio would think Bond would work as a 'shared universe' MCU type thing. Think it will go about as well as when they gave Jeremy Renner a spinoff Bourne film, espionage in the real world just doesn't seem to have much potential to me.

Reckon Bond has a pretty awful good to bad film ratio though for how highly regarded it is in popular culture so it doesn't matter too much in the long run who is in the role. Think Timothy Dalton was the best in the role, good balance between the suave Brosnan and darker Craig portrayals, shame he had terrible films. If he got the Casino Royale script/director it would have been the peak of the series.

Funny you bring up Bourne because there’s a TV show coming up called Treadstone set in the Bourne world. May be what inspired the idea of a Bond universe. I don’t know if it will get up, how many spin-off ideas they could reasonably come up with, but we live in a world where established IP is seen as a shortcut to success.

Who ever it will be, it will be someone in their 30s. Need to get at least 3-4 movies out of the new Bond.

Ageist thinking. Think outside the square.

I'd like see Ian McKellan or Peter Capaldi in the role of the new Bond.

Imagine the tricks Q could come up with, with walking sticks, Zimmer frames and catheter or colostomy bags.

Does Vin Diesel have action movies outside the Fast n Furious flicks?
