i think pickett and hamill (both probably spelt wrong) r hardnuts. i liked how hamill would always stick up for his team and i think thats what st kilda are missing now. if riewoldt gets picked on no 1 is there to stick up for him. i also remember pickett knocking down biglands and i think it was a k.o hit. both of them r hardnuts

it all depends on how you define a hard nut

IMO 98% of AFL footballers are Hard at the ball, however players like Voss, Hamill and Archer took hardness to another level, these types have a certain awe about them, IMO, yes Carr is hard at the footy however IMO he does not fall into the Voss category, it does not make me bias, it is just my opinion

I have to agree with this.

There is hardness and then there is hardness. You would think twice about belting someone like Hamill, Voss, Archer, Hodge, Woosha et al. You would think twice about it because you know that you will come off second best. There is that aura about them that just made everyone around them walk taller and the opponents think twice about doing something untoward....

Carr is a hard at it player no doubt, a little hard nut but he intimidates no one. He is just someone you would love to punch the living daylight out of. Someone thats a pest, not sure that the same thing can be said for the players I mentioned above.

IMHO, Hodge is THE hard nut of the competition. He is a beauty! He has that aura about him, that toughness that makes you look over your shoulder everytime he s around. No cheap shots, just hard but fair. Carr on the other hand is a pest, just like Godfrey was at Melbourne. Obviously, Carr is much better and much more talented player but they use the same tactics to get under the opponents skins.

Stiffy

Good Post :thumbsu: - you have explained it beautifully, yes Hodge is a Beauty

Mark Riccuito was definitely a hard nut still is apparently, especially in Waikerie playing footy, and after the grandfinal.

On a completely unrelated note a couple of guys in Waikerie got punched out in October somehow.

Though don't know if we want players to go around belts other players, maybe just some physical intimidation.

dont think vince is a hardnut.. whatever it is..

thompson and maric would be our hardest players.. and id say van berlo aswell.. he's done some things that other players wouldnt do.. against brisbane a couple of years ago..?.. when he broke his collarbone and still tried to lay a tackle was good

I watched Josh Carr very closely over the last year or so. Very suprised how often he would stay out of pack when he should have been putting his head over the ball. These types of "hardnuts" (Pickett was the same) really sh*t me. They like to hang around the pack sniping ball players who show true tougness and courage but when its their turn to put their head over the ball, they go weak at the knees. Port Power is riddled with these type of players.

and on that note I will not bother any further..

knights does so put his body on the line line to win the hardball well maybe at least he tackles hard when he feels the desire too

Wouldnt describe Knights as a hard nut in general but he has shown his willingness to fly the flag a few times. His having a crack at Adam Simpson after he slung Bassett into the fence is one that comes to mind.
