Don't expect Knights who is starting to make a string of poor decisions to do it though
He played there today and has done so in other games this year.

In 1992 some 78 players went ahead of a Mr J.Hird!
Sorry but i don't believe he is right to be an inside mid, he is to light and gets pushed off the ball to easily. IMO he plays his best footy up foward.Well said Ben. Now I am not saying Monfries will be the greatest rover BUT if he is ever going to make it as a AFL player it will be as a clear inside midfielder not a outside one as he has not got great pace but he does have a very effective kick and a very effective handball- all attributes of a solid inside mid!

Maybe you should watch games a with your eyes open. He has been used in the center bounces and he has been very poor. He just doesnt look like he has the natural instinct for it. He fumbles a lot and rarely gets a clean possesion from a clearance. Tonight he was used in the center a heap but was very ordinary.
Well lets give him a string of games in the centre, I believe that is his position, so lets see whether it is. If after 6 weeks he is still poor then fine shaft him to Bendigo, but lets give him a fair run as a actual ROVER
I thought he was good last night.
Still needs to add some body weight, but at least he goes.
One of the few who used the ball by foot well.
Apart from the two short passes that hit Port players on the chest and the gruber pass he kicked inside 50 that ended up as a turnover.
This is his 4th season. What position do you think he has been playing all this time ?
He has been given plenty of opportunities in the middle and has failed.

Agreed Longy, he should be played as a midfielder, who rests forward.
He's had numerous chances as a midfielder.
No he hasn't.
He's gone into the midfield a few times, mostly in games were we are being punished.
Twice, he's been included in our starting midfield rotation. One of these was in the NAB Cup and he was very good.
And the previous three seasons ?
Why don't you just bitch about Black and Power and Goodes being picked after Bolton in 1997.
I've been his biggest critic.
I see a future for him, I want to see him play out the year in the middle and see what develops.
His development was set back by playing so much footy at AFL level as a forward when he should have been playing at Bendigo in the middle.
Give him more midfield exposure and see how he goes.
As a starting midfielder (either starting in the midfield on the ground, or off the bench)?
Not once.
