What does he offer the side ?

We don't know, he hasn't been tried.

It matters greatly in getting a crack first up.
There is a big difference between starting in the midfield or going in when the opposition has momentum, huge difference.

Mind you, I thought he did a good job last night.

I think he does have tricks. He uses the ball well by foot, he puts his head over it and he is very good overhead for his size.

What does it matter if he started there or not ?
Around the grounds at stoppages he has been rubbish, when he has gone into the middle he has been rubbish.

He is small and doesn't have any tricks to compensate for it.

At least Dyson has pace, Johns has height/bulk.
Angus is just a vanilla midfielder with no height and no pace.

What does he offer the side ?

Not much use having pace if you can't get the ball. ;)

Sounds like Peter Bell but he managed to forge a career out of courage and leadership:thumbsu:

We saw his best and worst.

The kid tries his guts out and puts his head over the ball. Ticks all the boxes there.

Sadly he got exposed for pace, body strength and skill. He'll never develop the body required to be a good AFL player. It's not in his genes.

He doesn't have the clean hands to be an inside mid and I can't see a spot for him. His kicking is very hit and miss.
BRILLIANT POST:thumbsu:

Gus tagged Rodan for much of the first half and Rodan had very little impact. He also picked up 24 touches, which shows he's capable of winning the ball.

:rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:

Why don't you just bitch about Black and Power and Goodes being picked after Bolton in 1997.

It gets tedious.

Drafting is an inexact science, and to analyse it like this on single picks is naive and boring.

Next.

It does go to show that they're overpaid! Someone told me they get FA, I heard they get around $100k. Can someone confirm or deny this? If that's the case, Dodoro has been stealing a living!

You wouldn't be paying 100k for a recruiting manager (although Dodoro isn't our recruiting manager anymore) unless you head hunted him from another club.

There aren't many high paying positions at football clubs.

As a starting midfielder (either starting in the midfield on the ground, or off the bench)?

Not once.
Not quite, he got a few games in there towards the end of 07, & did alright, certainly enough to warrant having another look.
I agree entirely with our opinion, he'll never be a good small forward, or tagger or whatever, but he does have something to offer as a midfielder. We've been crying out for "vanilla" (god I hate that term) midfielders for a few years, Gus and Lonergan are probably our best options right now
