Looking at the stats I can't see anyone even close given Kholis retitement. It's going to be a long time before we see another.

Need at minimum high 40s average

So who will be next

Harry Brook and Marnus be good opportunities

Can’t see a circumstance in which Marnus will go close. World bowling is good at the moment.

Marnus’ batting is poor, and has been for a long time.

yeah good call.

you need to play 100+ tests to get to 10,000 runs (unless you can do bradmanlike things).

so based on today's climate and the current set up of the WTC etc, it could only be someone from India, England or Australia.

williamson will get there you'd think and then we may have to wait awhile.

100 tests will now be a challenge for many outside of ind/Eng/Aust unless the test format changes.
looking forward to starc getting there real soon.

players like rahim, brathwaite, chandimal, latham, rabada and perhaps babar may be the last for awhile and i doubt roach will get there , outside the big 3 teams.

The way cricket is you have to favour one from England/India who play more tests. Jaiswal from India and Brook from England, I'll throw Bethell in there as I like him and he'd be awesome to watch getting 10,000. Not sure Aus really play enough tests these days for a player to make it from our side

yeah australia, india and england play 18-22 tests in a WTC cycle ( 2 x 5 and 4 x 2-3 test series) and any extras if they choose to organise.

australia have expressed they'd love to play everyone in a minimum 3 test series and have added a 3rd test to the upcoming windies tour. they have even extended next summer's home series v new zealand from 3-4 and added a 1 off test v england.

only 4 aussies have achieved the feat and the next player will require 120+ tests at an average of 50ish.

the other nations play 12-15 (6 x 2-3 test series) and will be hard pressed unless the WTC format changes etc.
